Gorgeous quiet property right near the beach, pool was amazing with the comfiest beds to layout and read on

Every once in awhile there was a sewage smell that was blowing through the property but likely not something they could change?

La Poza just reopened after renovation and expansion under new ownership. I was skeptical due to the lack of reviews but booked a bungalow facing the lagoon and ocean. The grounds are beautiful with a great pool and large hottub. There is a bar and fab daybeds and lounge chairs. The bungalow is equally beautiful and esthetic. Lots of attention to detail. My bungalow came its own gas firepit, hammock and deckchairs. Wonderful spot for sunset and hearing the waves crash in all night. Also lots of bird life just outside the door. Staff was equally great. Had a nice breakfast including green juice, home made bread and local Mexican dishes.

You can not access the beach from the hotel on foot as the lagune is in front. However, there are some great beaches a short car ride away. You need a car in any case as this is 10 min from town on a dirt road. Bed was a bit hard for my taste and I wish there would have been a proper duvet cover. Other than that the room was great. Food is served until 5 pm so basically breakfast and lunch. Despite these small negatives I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend a visit.
