Hotel El Castello

Excellent hotel in a very good location. The breakfast was great (the best we have ever had in India!). Professional, friendly and helpful staff. The room was very nice, with a lovely view. Highly recommend!

The shower floor was very slippery when wet, so you needed to be careful when showering. Otherwise the bathroom was great.

Everything about the stay was beautiful and comfortable. From the warm family like welcome and Anupama drawing a map explaining the places to visit around market to a midnight ams emergency where Firdouz went beyond his way to find us a driver take us to the emergency unit at 1am. The staff was so warm and welcoming, the rooms were super tidy with a beautiful scenery from our balcony.

One of the nicest places we've ever stayed & we travel for close to 6 months every year. We stayed for 1.5 weeks waiting for the Leh Festival, with a break away to Lamayuru for 3 nights. Plenty to do around while waiting! The genuinely warm, friendly & supportive welcome from ALL the staff is the way of the hotel. You feel like you are part of the family. I really liked how they are so proactive about managing high altitude sickness, providing really useful information at check in. The same applies to helping you navigate around Leh, sightseeing activities & organising transport. The food in the restaurant is very good & the breakfasts are excellent. The rooms are spacious & comfortable. Our first booking (made last) was on a side with only a short period of sun. I found it a little cold but our next 2 bookings were on the side with the afternoon sun (rooms with a balcony), the room was always lovely & warm, retaining the heat all night.

Nothing at all. But, suggestion, how about including some of those lovely local desserts with saffron & cardomam on the menu, like rice kheer. We had to go across to the Pangong for dinner a couple of nights to have it!

It's a brand new room with modern interiors.

The bed was extremely dirty that I requested to change after reaching at 7PM. Why wasn't it already changed, I don't know. Bathroom rug and the floor carpet outside the room in the corridor were all dirty. It's a hotel, bunch of rules that they don't budge. Food was a very average. No sunlight in the room that was assigned to me. TV has netflix etc but I couldn't sign in. There were only Hindi channels otherwise. I had given my clothes for laundry, even the sweat stains weren't removed. The hotel has so much potential that I feel it doesn't live up to.
