Where do you start? Stadshotel Geertruidenberg is situated in a lovely marketplace in Geertruidenberg, although when we visited it was spoilt slightly because a fair was being erected in it. Access to the hotel and to our room was by means of a digital key on our phones which was emailed to us prior to our arrival as had been explained in a great wee video that had been sent to us previously. That just set the tone for our all too brief one night stay. We could not have asked for more help from the staff that dealt with us, the breakfast options were more than plentiful, the room was comfortable with a great walk-in shower. The whole building was a joy, beautifully converted from the old Town Hall. We would have loved to have been able to read all about the history of the building but our lack of Dutch prevented that! We should also mention that one drink from the fridge in the breakfast room was 'on the house' and we did take advantage of that after coming back from our evening meal. A really nice touch. Highly recommended. We would love to go back should circumstances allow it.

My wife would have liked a full-length mirror in the room but that is being really picky.

Location

Room was in the attic. Access by very difficult spiral staircase. Impossible for us as older visitors to carry luggage up these stairs. Not made aware on booking that there would be no lift. Room although reasonably spacious is poorly designed. Bed is on an elevated plinth so had to remember step down into the room. Sink area tiny and no storage. Bathroom space overall miniscule with again an awkward step. No wardrobe for hanging clothes. No staff available after 7.
