Hotel ROMY by AMANO

For an overnight stay in Berlin near the central train station, this was just about perfect. It is an easy walk if you go out the exit toward the tram rather than the taxi stand, we figured that out later. It had a nice little bar attached, was clean with good air conditioning in the room. Much is self service including check in and check out but there was staff available as well.

Nice location... Very convenient for commuting anywhere. Room was a little tight, but enough for 2.

The hotel is just across the train station. There are a lot of restaurants at the train station for a quick bite. The hop and off bus tour location is just around the corner. The staff was friendly, and the air conditioning was working. There is a restaurant at the hotel.

This hotel takes automation beyond the point where it's logical. Using a phone app to enter the building, operate the lift and get into your room sounds a great idea on paper, but fails miserably if you happen to be carrying luggage. Nobody was on the desk when I arrived and the electronic check-in procedure very unclear. The room was clean, and the bed decent enough. The rest of the furniture was basically a small stool and a shelf pretending to be a desk. I suppose it's aimed at people arriving late at night and leaving early in the morning, but for others it's too cramped to be functional. Breakfast was decent, but the hot food was left in uncovered dishes and put me off trying it. Some serving dishes with lids would have been a big improvement. Overall, acceptable if you are only using it as a place to sleep in for a night, but for longer stays I'd probably go elsewhere.
