Dhalaya Resort Udawalawe

This was one of my favourite stays in our time in Sri Lanka and completely exceeded my expectations. We were blown away by the hospitality of the staff, the comfort, cleanliness and design of our safari lodge and ammenities, and how amazing and convenient the location was so close to the park entrance for our safari. The resort is decorated to such a high standard, with so much care and thought gone into this resort - the animal and tiki decor makes the resort feel so fun and charming, we did not travel with children but this would be amazing for families. The food at the Hungry Monkey was incredible, some of our favourite Kottu in Sri Lanka! We felt so looked after by the the staff who genuinely wanted us to feel comfortable and enjoy our stay. We left for our safari at 5am, so we missed our included breakfast, the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a breakfast package to take with us, having this ready for us the night before. The resort is also a stones throw away from a local Elephant Sanctuary museum and feeding platform, which we managed to visit easily and were able to see the elephant feeding in the evening. I was very sad to leave this resort and have very special memories from our stay.

Nothing - I loved everything about our stay. More travellers should book to stay here during the quiet season for safari, it was so peaceful to have the place a bit quieter but this resort deserves more business.

We had a fantastic stay here at Dhalaya Resort, the staff were exceptional and went above and beyond to make sure that we had a lovely stay here. Breakfast was great and we were very close the National Park. We booked the safari through the resort, our driver was great and very knowledgeable about the animals. We even managed to spot a leopard with him which can sometimes be difficult to spot!

Nothing! The only thing I would say is there were no cocktails at the bar but they had beer on offer.

Everything was great here. The staff was so so nice and the restaurant had amazing food. They organized a safari for us, and that was so much fun as well! Also very close to the Elephant Sanctuary.

The location was excellent as it was near the park to do a safari and the elephant transit home. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

When we arrived the room was filled with mosquitoes. We spent 20 minutes trying to kill as many as we could but I still got badly bitten overnight despite having the fan and air con on. It would be good if efforts were made to reduce the mosquitoes in the room before people arrive by having a repellent in the room which is actually switched on. Maybe a net over the door would help.
