Coconut Tree Hills is such a beautiful and special place. Muthuu and her family fitted the rooms so beautifully! So far there are two units. The Deluxe Room has these amazing glass doors which offer the most stunning view over the property. The other room is actually a little apartment with a little kitchen, which we didn’t use. It seems to be a bit older and doesn’t have the view, but then it is not the deluxe unite and you pay a different price for it and it was absolutely fine! There is an area for all guests in the garden, with deck chairs and sun beds and a table, where breakfast is served. BREAKFAST… omg, it was sooo much beautiful food… a lot of Sri Lankan specialties like Honey-Coconut Pancakes, Dahl and many more that I don’t know the name of and lots of fruit. I had two teenage boys with me and they were really happy and had a well filled belly! The beach is just a very short stroll down the hill and it’s right in between some rock pools to swim in and the Turtle Conservatory. Muthuu was only a WhatsApp message away, if there would have been any need. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and can absolutely recommend it, especially for families, as it is an enclosed and very private property.

There are two houses on the lot: big round one (that gets 5 star reviews) and the little house that we stayed in. The view is great with beautiful palmtrees and seaview. You can’t go swimming at that beach but a short walk to the left there is a swimming beach. The breakfast took a while to arrive, but was good, despite some strange choices: we didn’t get any curry with the hoppers, but got marmalade, ketchup and chili sauce. The host said to mix them. The fruit plate was lovely and halapas and pancakes were great! And a huge pot of coffee.

I am very sorry to give a bad review. I came with a lot of hope but there were many details that took away from the whole experience. The small house feels cheap and old-fashioned due to mismatched furniture (both style and function) and sloppy finishes. Weird stiff pillows, towels smell like aerosol, bathroom tap and shower hardly give any water, bathroom tap is hard to close, toilet lid doesn’t stay open, no shampoo only bar soap, empty kitchen with a rusty fridge, no coffee or tea like on the photos. Needless to say, no fireplace, bath, washing machine, slippers, safe box which were in the description. Didn’t even have turtle pillows like in the photos :( From the small house where we were, you can see pretty much only the back of the big round house (you can see from the photo). The yard is lined with construction junk like an old toilet, broken furniture and scrap materials. We stayed the night before in a guesthouse just 3 min away and it was cheaper and much better.
