We'd love to do a weekend like this again.
The house is in a great location. Its only a 25-minute drive to Senanque Abbey, and you can walk to village for croissants. (10-15 minutes). The park surrounding the house is huge, with ample shade and plendy of room for kids to play. Coupled with the pool, its simply the best thing you could ask for in the heart of Provence.
The house combines the convinience of contemporary bathrooms with the character of historic furniture. (the shower was HOT and strong!) The mattresses are comfortable, and I slept very well.
I noticed some reviews complaining about the curtains, but there are blinds on the bathroom window, and the curtains work just fine. We didnt even use the air conditioning - the air in Provence is absolutely delicious!
I would suggest to make a "pillow bar" in one of wardrobes! Its always nice to choose a right pillow (firm/soft/ergonomic).

We were a group of 8 friends visiting for a cycling trip to Mont Ventoux. 5 days at Ch du Jonquier
The property is a beautifully renovated 300 year old Baroque castle, offering a lovely and well-balanced blend of historic charm and modern comfort. The accommodation is very spacious and finished to a high standard—the bedrooms, bathrooms, and especially the kitchen were all top quality, easily a 10/10.
The garden and surroundings are stunning and peaceful, making it a perfect place to relax. After long days of cycling, we really enjoyed the garden, pool & shade under the huge platan trees—it was ideal for cooling down and unwinding together.
The location is excellent for cycling, and everything worked perfectly during our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better base for our trip.
Highly recommended—especially for groups looking for a unique and comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings!

Beautiful historic place with great potential, in need of better cleaning, maintenance and comfort
Château du Jonquier has a beautiful historic atmosphere and, at first glance, great potential. The building is surrounded by a large and lovely garden with magnificent huge plane trees. The garden also features a pond with fish and a gazebo, a fountain, and a well-maintained clean swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers. Unfortunately, due to the cold weather, we were not able to use it. There is also a small chapel next to the château. The location is quite good, approximately 30 minutes from Avignon or Gordes, so the place can be very attractive for both relaxation and trips. We also appreciated the well-equipped kitchen. There is also a grand piano inside, adding to the château’s historic atmosphere.
Unfortunately, during our stay we encountered several problems. The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness. In the wardrobes in the rooms, we found used clothes, socks and muddy boots. In the bathroom, there was used toothpaste left behind, and there was hair in the cabinets. It is a pity that the towels were dark grey, which did not give an impression of cleanliness; moreover, a dead insect fell out of one of the towels. Shower gel was missing in some of the rooms.
Another issue was the lack of privacy. The toilet was part of the bathroom directly inside the bedroom, without a door, which we found very impractical and uncomfortable. The curtains in the rooms could not be moved or closed. On the bathroom window, which was directly opposite the caretaker’s window, there was only a sheer curtain, so in our opinion the privacy was insufficient.
The historic floor tiles in the rooms had been painted red, but the paint was clearly not suitable for this type of surface or was not sufficiently durable. The red paint was transferred on shoe soles into the bathrooms, which looked very unattractive and further worsened the overall impression of cleanliness. The floor throughout the property was uneven and slippery, which could be a concern, especially for children. There was also a lack of outdoor lighting, which made moving around the property in the evening less comfortable.
When we arrived, during cold weather, the château had not been heated and it was cold inside. It was possible to heat some rooms using air conditioning units, but only a half of the rooms had them, the remaining rooms did not. It was also cold in the toilets and common areas. The indoor fireplace was not allowed to be used. The mattresses were thin and very soft, and the bed linen had not been ironed, and there were no wardrobes with hanging rails, so it was not possible to properly hang clothes.
