Über diese chalet dieses Ferienunterkunft
Two hand-carved black bears stand at the door, one six feet tall and one nine, with tree and cardinal carvings alongside. They are the reason the cabin has its name, and the first sign it was built with some intention.
`Views are amazing and you can see all views from the hot tub. Cabin well kept and clean. Quiet neighborhood and not too close to each other.` - Janette, April 2026
THE LAYOUT, AND WHY IT MATTERS
Two king bedrooms, one on each level, and each with its own full bathroom. That is what makes this cabin work: two couples get a floor apiece, or parents get a floor between them and the children. No queuing for a shower, and nobody walking past anyone else`s door at night.
Downstairs in the game room there is a full-size sofa bed, which suits children or an adult travelling light rather than a third couple. Sleeps six.
LIVING AND GAMES
The main living area gathers everyone around a gas fireplace, lit from the timer switch on the wall, and a 50-inch smart TV. Streaming apps are loaded but need your own logins; the Roku carries 50+ free channels that need no account.
Downstairs the game room earns its keep - pool table, foosball table, board games and a TV of its own. Most groups end up down there after dinner and do not surface for a while.
THE DECKS
Two wraparound decks, one on each level, so the mountains are in front of you wherever you stand. The upper deck has rocking chairs and a porch swing. The lower deck is where the day winds down: a private hot tub, and a log fire pit with the Smokies stretched out beyond it.
`The deck overlooking the mountains was my favourite spot. Began the day and ended the day there.` - Amanda, June 2026
The fire pit burns wood, and we do not supply firewood - pick up a bundle on your way in. Never leave a fire unattended, and make sure the embers are fully out before bed.
KITCHEN
Stocked for real cooking: full fridge and freezer, electric stove and oven, dishwasher, drip coffee maker and a Keurig, blender, toaster, baking sheet and wine glasses. The dining table seats the group, and the gas grill on the deck, propane supplied, handles every night you would rather eat outside.
WORK FROM THE MOUNTAINS
Both bedrooms have a proper workspace - desk, monitor, ergonomic chair and lamp - on 1 Gig Wi-Fi. The desks are portable, and some guests move one out to the deck for the afternoon.
COMFORT
Central heating and air conditioning year round. Washer and dryer in the cabin. A Pack n Play for little ones. Hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hangers and an iron. Self check-in by keypad; your code arrives before you travel, so you can let yourselves in any time from 4 PM.
WHERE YOU ARE
Honey Bear sits on a private road in Sevierville, in a quiet, well-planned mountain community.
Wears Valley 4.7 miles - the quieter side of the Smokies, and the one locals send you to
Pigeon Forge 6 miles
Dollywood 9.3 miles
Gatlinburg 14.4 miles
Far enough that the Parkway traffic is somebody else`s problem, close enough to be at dinner in fifteen minutes.
`We saw a big boy bear walk right next to our cabin. You are in the woods. A great place to relax.` - Rich, May 2026
Black bears, deer and wild turkeys move through this part of the mountains. Enjoy them from the deck or the windows, keep food indoors and car doors locked.
GETTING HERE
The cabin is easy to reach year-round. However, there is only one sharp turn on a hill as you approach the cabin. Most guests navigate it easily, but we recommend AWD or 4WD during peak winter (Dec 15 - Feb 15) or if snow/ice is expected.
Apple Maps routes to the road one over rather than to the cabin itself - please use the directions we send with your check-in details. Take the last stretch slow and enjoy the views. Curbside parking for two vehicles.
BRINGING A DOG
The cabin is genuinely on a mountain, so the yard is sloped and unfenced - there is no flat ground for a big dog to run on. Small dogs do fine. Guests with large breeds tell us the deck became the dog`s favourite spot instead, and that they drove to Patriot Park or the national park for a proper run.
Our cabin is dog-friendly. However thorough our cleaning team is, it is impossible to remove every trace of pet hair, so please consider this if anyone in your group has a severe pet allergy.
SECURITY CAMERAS
One exterior security camera overlooks the driveway and records video and audio - it does not look inside. Smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm and fire extinguisher on site.
HOT TUB
The hot tub is emptied, cleaned and refilled between every guest, so it may not be up to temperature when you arrive. Adjust it as you like once you are here, never above 104F.
HOUSE RULES
1. No parties or events.
2. Vape pens, smoke, incense, candles and illegal substances are not permitted in or around the cabin.
