There are many walks to enjoy, with a historic battlefield and a golf course along the way. Alford Heritage Centre has an extraordinary collection of objects, books and images, housed in the old auction mart, whilst Grampian Transport Museum is a treasure house of transport history, displaying working exhibits and DVD presentations illustrating the history of travel and transport.

Skirted by the beautiful River Don and surrounded by the hills of Bennachie and Coreen, the area is a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Three miles south of Alford is Craigievar Castle (National Trust Scotland), a unique tower house built in the 1580s and was converted to its current form in the early 1600s.
