We wanted to get out of the Seattle area for the 4th (dog's wishes), and the home was the perfect place for peace and quiet. Pretty close to a few good hikes and plenty of lakes around if you enjoy lake fishing or relaxing. The creek running through the property was low (we heard the low snow pack is causing this) so we were not able to consider fishing in the creek. There were a few pieces that would have been good to know ahead of time (such as the oven being broken) but we were able to work around everything. Make sure you plan your food before arrival for any type of shopping is close to 40 minutes away. We had planned this so not a concern. Would recommend this for anyone looking for a nice quiet place to hang out. We would go again.

Well... It is a peaceful quiet getaway. Check in easy. Communication excellent. Inside of the house was pet friendly. But if you hope to romp and play with dogs on the property forget it. Rusty jagged barbed wire, debris, piles of scrap metal scattered everywhere. Our leashed dogs felt like they were on lockdown Yes there is a beautiful brook running through the property, but first you have to walk past the scum covered stagnant pond that's right off of the back porch. And oh my God, the flies. Dead flies on every window sill, fly tape hanging in the kitchen right where you prepare food. I had to clean dead flies out of the tub along with the soap scum. Was tempted to clean the lime deposits off of everything including the shower curtain that was supposed to be transparent, but I was on vacation. 1/3 of electricity didn't work, front porch railings dangerous, the screen door bent so couldn't close all the way, which lead to more flies, and while there is AC in the upstairs bedroom, if you're hoping for a complete AC experience then you'd be out of luck. It wasn't bad for our stay, but I would hate to be there when it was super hot. Holes in the bathroom wall where the towel rack should be, old mismatched bleach stained bathroom towels and a hodgepodge of kitchen utensils, which was fine, but you expect more for the price. Master bedroom set up for maximum toe stubbing, which could be fixed easily. Loose carpet on stairs. No DVD remote. But you can see a million stars...

It's very calm and quiet out there! The trip out and back for wherever your going is scenic, and there's even a nearby border crossing for Canada if that's something you're interested in. Lots of little swim areas along the Kettle River, which was very clear and had some great skipping rocks.Kitchen has the essentials for pots and pans, and there's a propane grill out on the porch. Coffee pot and microwave are all there and clean and in great condition. The dishwasher and fridge are also in great condition. Shower had good water pressure and hot water. The only downside was, that there's no washer/dryer but there is hot water and it is VERY bright and sunny so you might find it easier to just wash by hand and then hang dry. Overall, 4.5/5! Next time I'm in Republic visiting family I would definitely stay here again.

It was absolutely amazing, we stayed for three nights but it didnt feel long enough. We hung out on the deck with our dog and he had the time of his life wondering what the cows were. We went fishing down at the lakes and caught baby trout, nothing worth keeping. We also fished that little creek and caught a couple good size trout, we caught and released. We will absolutely be back again. Make sure you bring everything you need, unless you dont mind a drive, and i mean drive, into town.
