The beach retreat has all the community amenities including a heated pool, tennis court (not open due to restoration), covered parking and plenty of public beach access across the street (if you're facing the beach go left and public access is where the Wyndham used to be located - sign still there, but hotel has been torn down).

Spend the day at the beach, explore Lovers Key State Park a few miles away, watch the boats go by at the widest and southern most end of the beach right before crossing the Carlos Pass bridge or walk a few blocks to Santini Plaza to shop and grab a bite to eat. If the tourist scene is what you are looking for head to the North end of the island by car or trolley to eat, drink and shop - Yes, many places are open!
