NOTE: 4WD/AWD required in winter with snow tires (Thanksgiving through late March). Chains can be rented in the neighborhood for $30/day.
Our cabin features 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms sits on 1.2 acres and is located above Columbine Lake with a private hot tub and an awesome wrap around deck to enjoy the views.
Just 1 mile from Purgatory Ski Resort and 25 miles from historic downtown Durango, the cabin offers privacy and seclusion and awesome wrap around decks off both levels of the cabin with views of Engineer Mountain, Spud Mountain and of course Columbine Lake. The lower deck features a private hot tub and seating while the upper deck has an outdoor dining table (seating for 6) and a gas BBQ Grill.
The cabin features a second living space downstairs (with a TV), WIFI, washer/dryer, 2 car garage, and a recently remodeled, fully stocked kitchen. In summer and fall, there is a trail down to Columbine Lake (while beautiful, the lake is not stocked, so there is not fishing in the lake).

Downstairs Living Space - Queen Pull Out Sofa (Downstairs)
This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay).
Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

This house on the lake was amazing! It had all the comforts of home and such a beautiful view to help you relax and stay a while! We enjoyed coffee in the hottub each morning and it was conveniently located to all the hiking, kayaking and UTV spots. Only 30 minutes from Silverton and a minute from purgatory … our week flew by! Our pups enjoyed it, too! Thank you so much … we highly recommend this place and look forward to coming back!

This cabin was nice and well stocked and the view from the deck is amazing. A couple of things we found that were not great was the bed is terribly uncomfortable, somehow it is too soft and too hard at the same time. You sink down but the top layer is hard and we had a tough time getting comfortable. You also have to make sure and give the door on the refrigerator an extra push to get it closed every time. Glad we noticed it on day one so nothing was ruined. Overall the cabin is great and we loved the location. It was clean and the hot tub was a wonderful way to wind down in the evening.

My 3 kids and I stayed here for the week and enjoyed the lake view and the proximity to purgatory for summer recreations. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, and all the appliances worked great for every day cooking and cleaning. There were plenty of towels and toiletry throughout the home. The issues we ran into with this house is that other than the garage and front yard this property wasn't very dog friendly. lots of stairs and getting to the lake is quite a treck down the steep slope side. The local self proclaimed "Person who runs the lake - Tim" gave my kids and I a hard time the very first morning at the lake about fishing. The neighbors directly next door also yelled at us on the road about speeding - then proceeded to follow us down the one lane driveway to further press their point. The staff at VRC was extremely helpful via text message and fortunately these issues stopped once we made them aware. I would recommend VRC as their response and communication was wonderful throughout our stay. Overall - without the problems with the neighbors and the "lake manager" The kids and I had a pretty good time in Durango. Unfortunately though, we wouldn't rent this property again. Not the right fit for our family.
