Walks from the river lead up to the Chevin overlooking Belper in one direction and the river gardens and nature reserve in the other.
The Derbyshire Dales and Peak District are a short drive away; local attractions are Cromford (Arkwright’s Mill museum, canal walks, etc.), Arkwright’s Masson Mill (discount shopping), Matlock Bath (cable car, gardens, etc.), Middleton Top (High Peak Trail) and a multitude of beautiful villages and walks.
The city of Derby with its Cathedral, Silk Mill, railway Round House and shopping areas, both ancient and modern, is 9 miles to the south. If you like a little more action Alton Towers is just 20 miles away - 35min drive.
