The MiraCastro Hotel offers a cosy and comfortable stay, as well as a restaurant service that excels in the quality and typicality of its dishes, such as Cabrito do Monte, Truta dos Ribeiros, Veal and, of course, a good cod with migas (bread).
To savour these truly divine delicacies, there's nothing better than a good wine cellar, where you'll find everything from the region's Alvarinhos to good mature Portuguese wines.
Hotel MiraCastro has 14 soundproofed rooms with air conditioning, TV, Wi-Fi and private bathroom. The rooms also have a work area with a table and chair and a balcony that opens onto the beautiful scenery of the region's fauna and flora... a natural postcard that transmits peace and serenity, in a mixture of tranquillity and fascination!
The splendid location, right in the heart of Castro Laboreiro, where the rustic feel and authenticity of the people, combined with the extraordinary natural beauty of the mountains and hills of Laboreiro, welcome you to the stunning Peneda-Gerês National Park.
Castro Laboreiro belongs to the municipality of Melgaço and is located in the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. It has one of the richest prehistoric heritage sites in the country, including engravings and cave paintings, 120 Dolmen (dating back 5000 years) and Cists (megalithic funerary monuments). This village has a rich historical and architectural heritage, including the Castro Laboreiro Castle - classified as a national monument, the parish church, the 16th century pillory, classified as a building of public interest, Roman and medieval bridges, community ovens, granaries and mills.
It is a region of great beauty, meandering along the River Laboureiro, with its lagoons and waterfalls, ideal for long swims in summer and for practising extreme sports. This river is crossed by numerous bridges from the Roman and medieval periods, including the Ponte da Dorna, the Ponte da Assureira, the Ponte Nova or Cava Velha and the Ponte Velha.
The trails take us along paths of history between ‘brandas’ and ‘inverneiras’, where every step is filled with natural beauty. To learn more about the customs and traditions of this genuine and authentic region, there's nothing better than visiting the Castro Laboreiro Museum Centre.
The MiraCastro Hotel invites you to a relaxed stay in contact with nature: there are plenty of natural corners to discover!
