The house was clean & beautiful, unfortunately, the beach was almost non-existent due to, I imagine, winter storm erosion. Furnishings, amenities,& customer service from Doug were 5 star. Better than pictured!!

We had a wonderful stay overall. The house itself is beautiful, very clean, and exceptionally well stocked. It was perfect for our family, and we especially appreciated all of the games and activities available for the kids. The home is clearly well cared for and made for a comfortable vacation.Our only disappointment was the beach access. The listing advertised the property as having a private beachfront to "enjoy a mile and a half stroll morning, noon, or night.", which was a major reason we chose it. In reality, the beach was only accessible during low tide, and even then there was only a very narrow strip of sand. At any other tide level, the stairs leading to the beach were completely underwater, making the beach inaccessible from the property. Since low tide occurs at different times each day, we also had to research the tide schedule ourselves to plan around it. We were traveling with small children, so this significantly impacted our ability to enjoy the beach. There were wider beach areas to either side, but belonged to neighboring properties. One neighbor asked us not to use their beach, and the other had a large family gathering, so we didn't feel comfortable relying on access through neighboring lots.The home itself exceeded our expectations, but we felt the beachfront description was misleading, especially for the price. If the listing clearly stated that beach access is tide-dependent, we would have had different expectations.

Stunning location and house. The house was very comfortable with a large group, with plenty of seating inside and out. Very well-maintained. Loved having the extra TV/ping pong table room (kids could sprawl their toys out during the day and we could use it during the evenings and not worry about waking up the kids). We spent hours on the beach, swimming, kayaking everyday. The water stays shallow for quite a distance. The one negative is the lack of beach on the house’s property. During our stay, even during low tide, the water went all the way to the rocks and steps. Thankfully, the neighbors saw us struggling to carry our kids and chairs down and insisted we use their beach access and also let us park ourselves on the beach that was technically on their property. I might hesitate to rent again for that reason, but would probably risk it again. There is not far to walk on the beach, but it is an incredible, quiet location with so much wildlife and a marsh nearby. Loved watching the many species of crabs and herons and incredible sunsets.

Our family has stayed at Beauty on the Beach several times. It is a great family rental, lots of comfortable space to enjoy for everyone, kids and adults. We have always found the house to be clean and well stocked with kitchen utensils, etc. The beach is a good walk at low tide and there's also a public entrance at the end of Picketts Harbor Rd to a much longer beach for walking. The house is close to Cape Charles where there are nice shops and a wonderful bakery, The Mason St. Bakery and a great ice cream shop, The Brown Dog (seasonal) as well as several restaurants. The Hook and Harvey restaurant is very special, by reservation only, small and sophisticated yet local and friendly. $$$. More casual and good food and alcohol is AJ's Bar and Grill, The Shanty, Cape Charles Brewing, The Beach Market, Deadrise Italian Kitchen and others.$$Only one recommendation for this property: the downstairs master shower has a shower head that is not only difficult to adjust but puts out very little water, definitely not enough to wash your hair. A replacement would make it perfect!
