My Happy Place sits in Heritage Shores, a quiet gated-feel neighborhood in Fort Morgan, on the calm end of Gulf Shores, Alabama. The sand is 0.1 mile from the front door, about a two-minute walk. No high-rises, no crowds, no fighting for a parking spot. Just a short walk with the cooler and a whole stretch of beach to yourselves.
And yes, bring the dog. We welcome pets with no weight limit, and the Fort Morgan beach is one of the few places around Gulf Shores where your dog can come along. [Joe: confirm the dog rule for the beach access nearest the house before publishing.]
Room for everyone to spread out
- 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, sleeps 9. Two king suites, so the grown-ups both get a real bed and a real bathroom.
- Surf-themed bunk room that sleeps 5. The kids will claim it in the first minute.
- Smart TV in every bedroom, so movie night doesn't have to be a vote.
- Open great room with a big dining table and a fully stocked, renovated kitchen. Drip/Keurig coffee maker included.
- Washer and dryer. Pack light; wash the swimsuits every night.
- Fast Wi-Fi and parking for 3 cars on two driveways.
Where the kids will spend their time
The covered game room under the house is the reason families rebook: pool table, ping pong, bar with a fridge, TV, a swing bed and a hammock in the shade. Rinse off sandy feet in the hot-and-cold outdoor surfboard shower before anyone comes upstairs.
Two community pools plus tennis and basketball courts are three houses down. You can see them from the corner lot, so older kids can go on their own while you stay put.
Your morning coffee spot
The upstairs porch has a partial Gulf view and a breeze. It is the quietest seat in the house.
Beach day, already packed
Beach chairs, an umbrella and beach towels are here, so you don't have to fit them in the car.

We enjoyed a short stay! We grabbed groceries before arriving (great to do unless you’re not wanting to cook) and ate right down the road at Tacky Jack’s 2. The community is sweet, quiet, and secluded. We enjoyed walking around, quiet beach spots, and playing pool and ping pong while watching movies under the house.

Everything was clean, fully stocked, and has lots of fun things to do at the house and toys for the beach! The golf cart was perfect to load up and drive just a little ways so you can spend the day at the beach. The beach was not overcrowded at all! We had so much fun at he beach!

Golf cart didn't work, no bicycles, so we had to walk down the street to the beach with our elderly mom and a baby. Apparently the golf cart hadn't worked for some time because there was a garbage can in front of it with trash and maggots where it had been sitting. It stunk to the high heavens outside so we pulled the cart out and emptied nasy trash that wasnt ours. Pool table/ping pong table was in very bad shape with broken pool sticks and a warped table. Arcade game didn't work either. I emailed the owner with no reply. The house itself wasn't nasty, but wasn't clean either. The beds were made with fresh linens, and clean dishes, but the wall was even nasty behind the garbage can in the kitchen, and the floors were Sandy. All in all, not a horrible stay, the house was fairly nice, well equipped, and plenty of room. I just wish I got what I thought I was paying for. That golf cart and those bicycles would have been a big help with getting our family to the beach.
