Thomas Chapel was originally built in Watauga county near Tennessee in 1886 . decommissioned in 1967 and then bought in 1977 as a Mother's day gift for a former member of the church . It was taken apart and reassembled in her backyard. Her great grandson later converted the chapel to what is now the comfortable sanctuary located in a private valley on the outskirts of Boone. The church has been turned into a home which boasts a bell tower and 30 foot vaulted ceiling complete with the original hand hewn structural timbers. Nestled in a scenic hollow with a mountain stream and woods on one side and farmland on the other. Half a mile from downtown Boone, this private chapel is conveniently located 1 mile from Appalachian States Campus, and 20 minutes from 2 of the areas finest ski resorts. Come and experience a piece of high country history.

Very much enjoyed our stay at the Thomas Chapel house. The home itself has everything a couple could need and the location is perfect for those visiting Boone/Appalachian State.

Had a great time in Boone but the chapel was the best experience. Love it! Thank you Daniel for sharing this beautiful place. You did an excellent job restoring it for sure! Hope to come back and stay again! Definitely need more time in those mountains!

The renovated chapel highlighted everything me and my wife expected. It had all the amenities listed and more. We can’t wait for our next stay in this cozy space.
