Even today, the promenade features summer spa concerts, the wooden walking track, architectural remnants from the heyday of the spa town, and authentic Frisian cookies—baked according to the original recipe from 1888—at Café Wien on Strandstraße. Friedrichstraße offers everything you’d expect when shopping and dining out are part of your relaxation; the surrounding buildings, filled with vacation apartments, sometimes boast magnificent panoramic views of the city and/or the North Sea.
