Sound Sea Haven is a recently built (2023), high-quality home, elegantly styled, with attractive furnishings and decor. Located in the very quiet, peaceful Sound Sea Village, a classic Oceanside community in Duck, characterized by single-family residential cottages, treed settings, gravel roads, quiet family-friendly neighborhood, with a mix of year-round, 2nd homes, vacation rentals, natural surroundings, and a beautiful wide Atlantic Ocean beach. Only 2.2 miles to the Iconic Town of Duck, via road or detached bike/walking path, for the town's shopping, dining, soundfront boardwalk, and activities, or 9 miles North to all that Corolla has to offer. The community beach access is directly down the street from this home, past 11 homes, and an approximate 6 min walk, and for the evenings, there is a community picnic table area to watch sunsets 4 homes to the West at North Duck Watersports, which can provide rentals of jet ski's, boat rentals, and parasailing.
Sound Sea Haven offers 6 areas of decking, open and covered, in a peaceful quiet setting. With a detached guest cottage connected by a deck, you get two homes for the price of one! The main home offers a King Master Bedroom, 2 Queen bedrooms sharing a full hall bath, and a kid's playroom with a Queen Sleep Sofa and cool bunk seating that can be used for sleeping. The open living area with lots of light is perfect for family gatherings, while the high-end kitchen with epoxy countertops is a chef's dream. An electric fireplace and Smart TV create a warm, inviting space. With a dining table for 8 plus bar stools in the kitchen and a picnic table on the deck, there is plenty of room for meals. A laundry room and 4 areas of decking with a gas grill area round out the main home. This was a great property, full of amenities and stocked beyond what I expected. Quiet, peaceful location, with a decent walk to the beach. The only complaint I have was the lack of cleanliness; specifically, pet hair everywhere as if the previous guests had a badly shedding animal and the house hadn’t been cleaned since they checked out. It wasn’t immediately noticeable upon first inspection of the house the evening of arrival, but by the next day, we were finding ourselves covered in pet hairs from the bed comforters and after sitting on the sofa. There were huge furry dust bunnies and fur balls under the dining table and in windowsills. There were pet hairs in the kitchen and restrooms, literally everywhere! There were notices throughout the house reminding guests to cover the furniture and to clean up after pets, but apparently previous guests did not adhere to that request and there wasn’t a proper cleaning after. There was also a brown smear near the toilet paper roll in the half bath…yuck! We have always been taught to leave things better than we found them so we, unfortunately, spent more time than we would have preferred while on vacation, cleaning up after others in addition to ourselves. If property management could thoroughly clean in between guests, this would be the perfect stay!

This place is exactly as advertised. It was perfect for our family of 5, and could've easily hosted two smaller families. The extra suite would make the perfect parents/in-law cabin, but our 22yo sure enjoyed his 'space'. The owners thought of everything, and had plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, and carts. The large deck with a gate was perfect for our dog, too. Recommendation to other renters - bring bikes or rent them from a service, as this is an easy 2 mile ride into town.

The vacation rental was very dirty.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.

Our vacation started out awesome. The home and beach were beautiful. However, the cockroaches that refused to leave stole that from my family and I. The cockroaches crawled in my daughter while she was enjoying the nice sectional sofa. Nobody was willing to sit on the sectional after that. The cockroaches infested the pantry were we kept some of our food and dog food and we had to throw it all away.
