Step back in time and enjoy a quintessential Cape Cod vacation in this charming 1880s ranch-style cottage overlooking Mayo Beach and Wellfleet Harbor. Full of character and original details, this three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath home offers a relaxed, old-fashioned beach-cottage experience in a truly special location.
The cottage sits directly across the street from Wellfleet Harbor, with a sandy beach right in front of the house. The recently renovated 180-degree screened-in porch faces the water and is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee, an afternoon breeze, or an evening meal while taking in the beautiful harbor views.
The first floor features a kitchen with a dining area, a comfortable living room with an additional dining area, two bedrooms, and the bathrooms. One bedroom has a double bed, while the second bedroom has a twin-over-double bunk bed. Please note that access to the full bathroom and the double room with ensuite half bath is through the bunk bedroom.
A very narrow staircase, wrapped around the cottage's original center chimney, leads to the cozy second-floor attic bedroom. This unique space has three twin beds, making it a fun retreat for children or additional guests. The narrow, steep staircase is an original feature of this historic cottage and may not be suitable for everyone.
Outside, enjoy a large yard, small deck, outdoor shower, and off-road parking for two cars. The outdoor shower is a classic Cape Cod tradition and an especially refreshing way to rinse off after a day at the beach.
The location is hard to beat. The cottage is a 5–10 minute walk to the center of town and just a short stroll to Mayo Beach, the community playground, and tennis courts. The pond and ocean beaches are approximately 10 minutes away by car.
With its waterfront setting, sandy beach, screened porch, large yard, outdoor shower, and wonderful historic character, this cottage offers a true old Cape Cod vacation experience — relaxed, comfortable, and wonderfully close to everything Wellfleet has to offer. An administrative fee and applicable taxes may apply. Linens are not provided—guests may bring their own or rent. This property does not have air conditioning.

A nice summer house close to everything. We walked to restaurants, the pier, beach, market and shops. The house was clean and had a big backyard for barbecue! Overall it was excellent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cottage by the Harbor. The cottage had all of the required and some bonus amenities and the location could not be beat. Great backyard, outdoor shower, wrap around porch, washer/dryer, short walk to the pier, several restaurants and downtown, plus the harbor beach directly across the street. We've been vacationing in Wellfleet for over 20 years on Kendrick Ave and this has been one of our favorite rentals so far. The only constructive feedback I'd like to offer is the cleanliness of home. I don't believe the property had been cleaned adequately, if at all over the span of several weeks. There was sand all over the floors in multiple rooms. The floors underneath the furniture had layers of dust, dirt and sand. There were multiple cobwebs throughout the home, the corners had human hair balls and dead bugs. There was an ant infestation of some sort in the kitchen under the sink and behind the washer and dryer. I ended up spending a few hours doing a thorough cleaning of the space myself, and although I didn't mind, I'd expect for the amount of money we spent, the place be more appropriately cleaned between rentals. Otherwise, we hope to return. It was a wonderful and charming home; location and we look forward to making more memories at this spot.

Very well maintained house built in the 1800"s. Wonderful location across from a bay beach, with beautiful back yard and long front porch . My family loved staying there .Well equiped,and had a washer and dryer! Easy walk to playground/ recreation center, restaurants, harbor and town center. (Stairs to the second floor would be difficult for an elderly person)
