Radium Chalet

The Chalet commands the best view over the town and surrounding area. From the fair sized balcony you can see north towards Golden and leaning slightly over the rail, looking west over the town towards the Columbia river and mountains beyond. Quite the scene at dawn and dusk. Bed was comfortable and so was the sofa. The heating was adjustable and functioned well. The bathroom was clean and the shower was ok for a fixed head type. The decor and condition of the rooms is older and you will need your own cutlery if you intend on eating in the room. There is nothing specifically wrong with the decor or the decoration. It is well appointed with a new tv, cable box over a gas fireplace with a comfortable sofa opposite. The bed is newer and comfortable, the bathroom is clean and adequate, just everything is showing its age at the edges. Also bear in mind this is in no way a step free access for most of the rooms.

This has been one of our favourite hotels to stay at in radium for many years. The staff are friendly, the views and location are great, reasonable prices, and nice rooms.

The only feedback I would have for the owners is that the property is beginning to show its age. A facelift of the facia, bathrooms, and window treatments would really freshen up the place. And maybe some wd40 on the bathroom fan, sounded so much like a twin Otter taking off, I actually ducked

The views were exceptional. It was quiet and far from traffic.

I called in advance to let them know that I was arriving late and that we had a 26' Uhaul towing a car: we were very long. I asked specifically if the parking lot could accommodate us. She said sure, we'll figure it out. When we arrived, no one was available, they left a lock on the door, which we were expecting. The parking lot had no way of accommodating our need. We ended up parking on the street and then doing a 500 point turn in the morning, hanging off of the road and using a private driveway: we had no choice. It was odd and irritating.
