We had an excellent weekend in Altena. The appartment/studio has all basics to shower, cook, sleep or watch a movie. A free public parking spot is 2-3 minute walk from the house (we packed and unpacked in front of the outside stairs). Sitting outside with a coffee and view over the green hills was marvelous. In less than a 10 minute drive uphill, you can find walking areas with green hills, horses, deer and beautiful views over the valley. Also the boulevard in Altena, walking next to the river the Lenne, is a nice stroll. Driving around, we visited the rock formations at Felsenmeer and the cave "Heinrichshöhle", which we recommend to visit - though there is probably more to visit around. We had a very enjoyable and relaxt weekend. Recommended.

The entrance requires an outside uneven stairs down, then 3-4 steps up again, so take that into account if you have difficulties walking (which was not a problem for us). Driving around, it is good to know there are a lot of old factory buildings next to the road and it can feel a bit crowded in some areas. Then again, there are also plenty of nice spots and nature to discover - you just have to pick the right routes :-) The studio has no extreme luxuries, like extra new cooking pans or a dishwasher - something not to be expected for the excellent price (you could indeed expect less).

Sehr freundliche Gastgeber Ruhige idyllische Lage Top Preis-Leistungsverhältnis
