Super Hotel Premier Toyama Castle Park

Absolutely loved the welcome bar with free saké in the evening! The onsen is nice but there aren't many amenities offered like I've seen in other hotels (no disposable hairbrushes for example, though they can be picked up at reception). The room wasn't too small. Breakfast was quite varied. Location is a 10-min walk from the station but right in front of the castle.

I requested checking in just an hour earlier and my request was rejected right away. Breakfast is quite early, from 6:30am to 8:30am. The two ladies I met at the front desk on the two days I stayed there did not speak English.

The location right across the street from the Castle Park was very cool, since I arrived on the day of a festival that had street dancers right below my window. They had a magnet board where guests would self identify the estimated hour they would come for breakfast so that both guests and staff knew when it might be crowded. They had an evening free self-serve welcome bar with numerous brands of sake, whiskey, gin, etc. Room entry used key codes instead of card keys. They used magnet signs to place on the door to inform the staff if you wanted room service. The tiny rooms had a nice business desk that even included a universal USB cord. All very innovative and new (to me).

The funny joke to tell colleagues was the having both "Super" and "Premium" in the name of hotel meant that it had tiny rooms. Not as small as a capsule hotel, but comfortably functional for one person.
