Ruby Mountain View Resort Vang-vieng

The location is great. Just 10 minutes walk from the main Street. It is really quiet and the rooms have great view to the mountains. They are spacious, clean and the bed is really comfortable. Raymond, the receptionist is great. Not only friendly, he also speaks great english and will do his best to try to find a solution. He helped us to rent a motorbike that was brought to the hotel. The breakfast we liked a lot, it is Chinese style, for us was a great way to start the day. Definitely, the place to stay. Can only recommend.

The resort has luxuriously designed rooms in two rows along a surrounding lagoon. The rooms are very spacious and designed to the last detail, with glass on both sides offering a lot of daylight and good views of the surrounding area. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was more than spacious, with a warm shower from a boiler, which is rare in this part of the world. The breakfast they offered was splendid with a cook frying eggs the way you want them.

The location is a bit outside of the town center, so you have to walk a bit or take a tuktuk to get to the resort. Part of the road is a bit rough and dimly lit.

Nice comfortable room. Enjoyable breakfast. Very helpful staff.

The walk to town, though not long, had to negotiate a muddy (or dusty) section of road.

The views are stunning, the location is good if a little out of the centre (approx 15 mins walk) The rooms are nice if you book the ones with a bathtub as they have lovely views and floor to ceiling windows so lots of light. Beds are comfy and the aircon works well.

We arrived and were shown our room which on first glance was lovely, unfortunately we discovered a leak in the bathroom, immediately talked to a staff member who came to look at it, confirmed there was an issue and said he would need to move us to another room, we asked if it was the same type (with bathtub) and he said no, the only room they had was a family room on the other side. Not much we could do but move. Then as we were putting our bags down, he tells us that we will need to move rooms again in the morning as they need this room(!). No apology, no offer of a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience. In the morning I went to speak to them again to ask about perhaps a partial refund as we clearly hadn't gotten the room we booked or the experience we had wanted. I was met with 'well the room we put you in is more expensive'. We explained that regardless of this (and considering it slept 4, it would actually be cheaper PP) we didn't get the room we booked and had had to move twice. Honestly the level of incompetence this man displayed! He just kept saying "sorry sorry, it's okay, it's okay",.asked if he could move our bags to reception for us and then went on to blame his colleague saying that "he should have called me, they had to cancel other guests bookings...etc" so unprofessional! We then asked to speak to the manager, we were told he doesn't come round or speak much English, we still asked to speak to them and this was never fulfilled and neither was ANY gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience. Also the breakfast was on till 10.30am, we came out just before 10am and all the food was gone and no coffee left, with 30 mins remaining there should have at least been a replenishment of coffee! The staff at breakfast were miserable and the girl sitting by what I assume was the egg station didn't even look up from her phone. We didn't even bother the next morning.
