Hotel Schauinsland

We loved the view from the rooms balcony. It's family owned and the owner operator is very kind, friendly and helpful if you want to explore the area. We will plan on coming back.

We are so glad we found this delightful place to stay for a few days on our trip across Europe. The hotel is cozy and personal with unique items found in nooks throughout. Our room was large, clean, comfortable and included all the essentials. A table with seating for four was a bonus. It wasn’t the season to sit on the balcony but the view out over the valley and mountains was matchless. Our host was friendly and conversational. He gave us good recommendations about the area. Breakfast was home made and excellent including breads with homemade jam, meat, cheese, fruit, tomatoes, cereal, yoghurt and quark, tea, cappuccino and juice. Tea, coffee and fruit were always available. The hotel is under renovation so is a bit rough around the edges in some places. That in no way interfered with the enjoyment of our stay.

Everything was prepared with great care, with special touches in every detail — from the salad dressings to the marmalades. Beyond the excellent food, we felt warmly welcomed from the moment we arrived. And the gentle musical atmosphere created by the owner added warmth to our stay

Beautifully situated for wonderful views of the valley below. Good parking. The proprietor, Ingolf, is a really likeable extrovert with good English. Best not to mention World Cup, Germany, however!!! Breakfasts are good with occasional treats. Our room was large, plenty of storage, clean with a table for four - good for takeaways etc. (no chambermaid, but not needed anyway) balcony more than adequate for that evening tipple. No lunch or evening meals, but no problem. Beer, soft drinks in large fridge - honor system used. Braunbergstuble further up the hill (watch out for small pointer signs) welcoming, excellent with large meals and Credit cards accepted. Hotel Hirsch in town, Credit cards not accepted and told after the meal. All in all a lovely break.Thank you Ingolf.
