Welcome to The Tropics, a spacious twelfth-floor one-bedroom with a north-facing view of the ocean and the city and a big balcony to take it all in. Wake up up high, grab a coffee and take in the view.

There's room for the whole crew. The unit sleeps up to 4 with two queen beds in the bedroom, plus a kitchenette with a cooktop, microwave and fridge. The sofa is for lounging, not a pull-out sleeper. The large balcony has room to sit out with a coffee.

Waiting for you at the resort: an oceanfront pool, an indoor pool, two hot tubs, a sauna and a workout room. It's a big, lively, family-friendly resort with a fun pool deck.

The beach is a short stroll through the public access on the north side of the building, and you're right on the "World's Most Famous Beach," where the locals go. Restaurants, bars, shops, Publix and Marshalls are right across the street. It's about 20 minutes from Daytona Beach International, 50 minutes from Sanford and an hour and a half from Orlando.

Parking is in the resort's two outdoor lots, first come, first served, with one spot included. No trailers.

Good to know: the resort is partway through a multi-year renovation, so you may hear some daytime work noise and see a little dust. For now, the tiki bar, restaurant, one outdoor pool, the kiddie pool and the parking garage are closed. There's no beach access straight from the building or pool deck. The kitchenette has no oven, and there's no washer or dryer in the unit; guest laundry is on floors 3, 4 and 5 by the north elevators. Two beach towels are provided.
