Avoid Propr! I was checked in 5 hours late after spending hours waiting at reception.
The convenience of where Sunbird is located.
Unlike Perch, the short stay property managers, Propr who managed the apartment I had booked for my recent stay, check-in was TERRIBLE. They didn’t have a lockbox where they leave keys for self checkin.
They have a system where they have a “concierge” apparently designed to welcome and check-in the guests upon an agreed time of arrival. But the system doesn’t work, they should just rename this role to “runner” because he had been running around the city checking everyone and forgot to check me in at 13h00 as per the approved time following my request for early check-in. He arrived 3 hours later after being told numerous times that he is 10-15 minutes away.
All the QR codes to register at security were faulty. When the runner eventually arrived, he was rude and told me I was not the only person waiting to be checked in, he calmed down after I had shown him the email confirmation of my approved arrival. All the pre-check in details I completed and sent to them in advance did not help.
The rental car that I was driving was not registered on the system for the boom gate to instantly recognise the registration number to give instant access. I had to call the security control room from the intercom, each time I was entering/exiting the building and answer a 101 questions before they’d open the gate.
Their call centre, the worst! Keenan put me on hold, left me to listen that horrible hold music for 27 minutes, then hung up. Andile sent wrong QR codes, then there was, Ari, Amy, Wanda, Tanya, all of them taking my statements and telling me nothing. I was checked in 5 hours later, into a beautiful apartment with a double sized duvet on a queen sized bed!
I have stayed at Sunbird on many previous occasions in apartments managed by Perch and none of this happened. The registration was done on my first visit and ever time I returned I just updated the details of the rental car, registration at the reception was always seamless and you’d be checked-in 2 minutes tops!

Bad host
The location is good. And that’s the only good thing about this Airbnb apartment
The hosts are really bad. They do not prioritize the welfare of their guests . They wouldn’t respond to messages or calls , they wouldn’t do anything when needed.

Disappointing...
As it is centrally located and the pictures looked nice, it seemed like a good idea at the time. It was not - we ended up cancelling. Management should do better.
The reality looks nothing like the pictures! The accommodation was not ready on check-in (no sheets on the bed), no keys to the balcony, no view from any window as in the pictures, as it was on the 2nd floor facing other apartments. Guests are not allowed to use on-site laundry facilities, despite being right next to the building laundry room. There was also an issue to get into the building on check-in, due to the automated security system that did not work well. At some point 4 people were trying to figure out how to register us. After almost 2 hours of frustration, disappointment and no clear answers as to when the bedding and key issue would be solved, we cancelled and booked somewhere else. Never again, not worth the stress.
