Hotel Fontana Selb

Beautiful stylish rooms recently renovated and complete with a great shower and full power hairdryer (important for those of us with longer hair). Insulated windows and corridors for great soundproofing. Convenient easy walk from Selb Stadt station. We visited during a local festival and it was very obvious that great care and attention had gone into preparing the rooms and making sure everything was totally perfect. When reading about issues from past reviews I believe the owners have already made many improvements which meant our stay was totally smooth and enjoyable. After some older reviews mentioned struggling with no signage and the digital key, there is a lovely obvious 'Hotel Fontana' sign above the door, the location is easy to find on Google maps and we were offered a traditional keycard for the door to ensure we wouldn't have any issues with the new digital keys. The owner also helped us a great deal by helping us arrange a local taxi connection so that we could make our onward train journey to Prague, and they explored lots of options with us. Honest and friendly service from people who really care about providing a good experience. Last but not least the PILLOWS were fantastic, usually with hotel pillows they are for looks only and you can't use them but these had big lovely cushion pillows, maybe the best I've experienced in any hotel. Well done team Fontana!

We loved everything! There is not a 24h reception here and no facilities to offer breakfast as others mention but we tried the restaurant on the square and the food was hearty and the people friendly. There was no downside for us, we really loved our stay, and had the best night's sleep on our trip. Thank you!

The rooms are very good, although the standard rooms are quite small

Appalling welcome. All signage has been removed and the property is locked up. Unless you know that the place deliberately does not have a manned reception, you might think it's closed down, confirmed by a local. Only when trying to contact the owner to cancel, it was made clear that I had been sent a digital key by email. I have never even heard of such thing. The owner came round and explained the process. So we eventually gained access and things turned round for the better. All I would say is that arriving after a 200k journey, the last thing a traveller wants to find is a locked up hotel with no signage.
