## Emplacement
A must-see destination, La Rochelle has plenty to charm visitors. A port city par excellence with its four harbors, the Cité Blanche bewitches all those who set eyes on the sun-drenched white stone in which its buildings are constructed. The omnipresent ocean is the city's symbol, sweeping visitors' nostrils with its spray. Old stones also have their say in this landscape bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, where low-lying coasts, sheer cliffs and sandy shores alternate. International trade has given rise to a unique architectural mix, with a variety of influences from across the seas.
