B&B Via San Martino

There was no possibility of driving close in order to unload luggage. I accept that parking is impossible in Italy. Don't consider going with lots of luggage. However the location was very close to the centre, and L'Aquila is beautiful and full of life. Google Maps failed, in that it directed me to go against a one way street, and also directed me onto a pedestrian only road. As a result I had to rely on my orienteering skills and someone walking down the street to find the place, and then to find my car the next day. However, overall it was a lovely place and comfortable, with all modern equipment and finish, and worth the stay. The owner was very helpful when I got lost and then when I couldn't figure out how to navigate the security. I would stay there again, and travel lighter.

Instructions for operating the coffee machine could have been better. Or alternatively a simpler machine. However, I managed to get a cup of coffee. No problem in the end.

Very central location. Nice clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed (although I was not used to the memory foam). Kitchen is available with some equipment.

There was no real breakfast, although we paid for it. I got some everlasting "croissants", crackers and jam, all prepared on the room for the 3 mornings and that was supposed to be "it". On an explicit request, I also got a baguette, butter, cheese, and ham. Again, for the remaining two mornings a day in advance. Simply order without breakfast or you will be disappointed. The only window of my room was to the street and rather low on it. Street was quite loud of partying people until 2am and of cleaning car around 5am. If you have both of the rooms that share the kitchen, then you can ventilate through the window of the kitchen to the courtyard, which is colder and quiet. There is no AC. The kitchen is missing a lot of equipment to make it properly usable - e.g., there was no sharp knife, nothing to wash the dishes etc. It would be nice to have some screen on the room to put my stuff in. The courtyard is nice, but there is nothing to do on it. There is not even a bench. A table and some flowers would be nice.
