Well-furnished for indoor and outdoor living, features include a brookside, wood-burning firepit, lounge deck, and patio equipped for al fresco with a gas grill and table seating.
Enjoy a variety of wildlife viewing right from your own backyard with eagles, osprey, great blue herons, and crabs all common visitors. High tide may also bring the occasional seal-sighting! The bright, updated interior is rich with contemporary comfort and plenty of space to spread out in comfort.
On the main floor, enjoy time together with a spacious, semi-open layout. The front family room welcomes conversation and group gatherings with a cozy sofa and futon. The full kitchen comes equipped with all major appliances, including a new dishwasher, a cupboard pantry, and a farmhouse sink - ready to handle family-style meals with ease. the adjacent dining area offers table seating for eight. Upstairs entertainment awaits in the game and living area. Challenge your guests to a few rounds of Ping-Pong or settle in for a movie on the flatscreen smart TV. Our hosts were incredibly welcoming--they made sure to have lights on so we could see when arriving in the dark, and as it was over the Thanksgiving holiday, they left us a gingerbread house to assemble (my 11-year-old daughter loved this!). They were responsive and the house was everything we needed for a refresh.

The house is unique, warm and inviting. The kitchen is spacious flowing into the dining and great room. There are no fans in the bathrooms. The downstairs bathroom has a large step up, over and down into the shower, and the shower floor is uneven and squeaks. If anyone uses the shower in the upstairs bathroom, it leaks down into the downstairs bathroom. This has been a past problem which hasn’t been fixed according to previous reviews. I also called about this issue and was told someone would call to schedule a visit. I received no call. I was told I missed a call but no call showed on my phone. I attempted to contact the host 3 times. Communications were always delayed and from several different unrecognizable phone numbers. Very frustrating.

The location of this rental is as good as it seems. 12-15 minutes to Bar Harbor, but easy access to both sides of Mt. Desert Island and Acadia. The backyard and firepit were great.
We also enjoyed the sheer size of the house and the privacy that it provided, with members or our group able to break off and have alone time (great for naps!). Beds were reasonably comfortable.
That said, we had some issues with the location not having been fully cleaned when we arrived -- the washing machine was full of towels and the game room couch had used pillows and blankets on them as if someone had slept there and no one bothered to clean them. I alerted vacasa but they did nothing in response, which was disappointing. We also felt that, for a high dollar rental, too much was missing from the kitchen -- no coffee, no dishcloths/sponges, no salt shaker, no cooking oil or PAM spray, among other items. We had to run out to the grocery for an extra trip to buy some of these essentials, which was annoying but not the end of the world.
