For a memorable day out, head to Highclere Castle (20 miles), instantly recognisable as the filming location for the beloved TV series Downton Abbey.


Inside, the heart of the home is the farmhouse kitchen and dining area, where cooking together becomes part of the occasion. Stock up on fresh produce from nearby farm shops, then gather around the large wooden dining table with seating for 12 guests. The main living space is designed for spending time together, with plenty of comfortable seating, a wood burner for cosy evenings during the colder months, and a Smart TV for film nights. A selection of board games and books adds to the home-from-home feel when the pace slows down. Bedrooms are light and airy, dressed in soft neutral shades with crisp white linens. Sleeping arrangements include four doubles, plus a family room with a double bed, single bed and an additional stacking single available on request. Fast Wi-Fi runs throughout the house, and each bedroom has its own desk for anyone needing to catch up on work. One of the double bedrooms benefits from an en-suite shower room, while two gleaming shower rooms serve the remaining rooms. A handy cloakroom completes the interior.


Outside, the generous fenced garden is mainly laid to lawn, giving children room to play and adults plenty of room to gather. Picnic tables and a bench create a lovely setting for dining in the fresh air when the weather is kind. Ample free parking is available in the adjacent shared car park. The property is surrounded by a two thousand acre organic farm, including green pastures, wildflower meadows, ancient woodland and fields of heritage grains. All waste water is treated ecologically onsite through a reedbed water filtration system. The property is heated by an air source heat pump with energy needs supplied by 100% renewable electricity, supplemented by its own on roof solar PV system with battery storage. We help you reduce the carbon footprint of your stay by recycling and composting all waste.
