About The Area

Ballinskelligs, or `place of the rocks`, lies on the western edge of the stunning Ballinskelligs Bay, just off the spectacular Ring of Kerry. This spot is rich with ancient sites like the iconic McCarthy Tower and the world-renowned Skellig Michael, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famously featured in the Star Wars films. It`s the perfect location to explore famous cinematic landscapes and the deep rooted history of South Kerry.
For guests staying at Bolus, a visit to the Cill Rialaig Arts Centre is a must. Established in 1995, the Cill Rialaig Arts Centre is a cornerstone of local culture in Ballinskelligs. Visitors can explore the centres collection of paintings, sculptures, fine crafts, and uniquely crafted gifts. Many artists who have resided at the Cill Rialaig Artists Retreat contribute works for sale at the Centre, supporting the ongoing Cill Rialaig Project.
