It has been in the family for over 50 years and is located in one of the very first houses built in the city of Senj—predating even the town's famous landmark, the Nehaj Fortress. Apartment Old Square is located in the immediate vicinity of several historical landmarks: Nehaj Fortress (the city's symbol), the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Catacombs, the remains of the city walls and towers, the Great Gate (City Gate), Vukasović Palace, the Church of St. Mary of Art, the Church of St. Francis, the monument to the Senj Uskoks, the newly renovated Park of Senj Writers, and the old town center with its narrow stone streets.The atmosphere of summer evenings in Senj is enhanced by numerous events, such as the summer masquerade ball, a local produce fair, and "Fishermen's Evenings." Many small restaurants offer excellent food; the closest to the Old Square Senj apartment is Restaurant Lavlji Dvor, which shares its inner courtyard—known as "Lavlji Dvor" (featuring twelve stone lion heads, each with a unique facial expression)—with our apartment. The site is a protected cultural monument in Croatia.
