Our bright, loft-like cabin sits in a deeply private redwood forest on the Mendocino Coast, surrounded by our own trails, wildlife, and a beautiful creek. Mornings begin with birdsong and sunlight through the trees; evenings might mean a wood-burning sauna, a soak in the tub, dinner on the deck or stargazing in near-complete quiet.

Minutes away, including roughly five minutes along the forest road that leads from the cabin to the main road. Restaurants, beaches and beautiful coastal hikes are all within easy reach.

The cabin was created for two people who want privacy, nature and real comfort. It is spacious and filled with natural light, with high ceilings, a king bed, a full kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, and everything you need to settle in for a weekend or stay considerably longer.

THE OUTDOOR SHOWER
The private outdoor shower beneath the redwoods is one of the most loved parts of the cabin.
It may sound adventurous before you try it. Then you find yourself taking a long morning shower surrounded by trees, sky and birdsong and wondering why every shower isn't outdoors.

There is also a full indoor bathroom for those who prefer it.

WOOD-BURNING SAUNA
Guests are welcome to use our wood-burning sauna near the main house.

After hiking, exploring the coast or doing absolutely nothing all afternoon, heating the sauna and letting the forest go quiet around you is a pretty wonderful way to end the day.

PRIVATE TRAILS, REDWOODS & CREEK
You don't need to drive somewhere to take a walk.
The cabin sits on privately owned forest land with trails to explore and our own creek below. Because the land is private, there are no busy trailheads or crowds passing through. Often you may walk for quite some time without seeing anyone at all.

Bring your coffee outside in the morning, wander through the redwoods, listen to the creek, watch for wildlife or simply stay on the deck and do nothing.
That is very much the point of being here.

A SEPARATE PLACE TO WORK OR WRITE

For guests who need to work or who want somewhere completely quiet to write, read or think, there is an additional small office/work space separate from the main cabin.
This makes the property particularly well suited to a work retreat or a longer stay.

DOGS ARE WELCOME
Dogs tend to be extremely happy here.
There is space to walk, explore and sniff through the forest, and many of our returning guests come back with their dogs specifically because of the freedom and quiet of the property.
Please remember that this is a natural forest environment with wildlife.

CLOSE TO POINT ARENA & THE MENDOCINO COAST

The cabin feels remote, but you are not cut off from everything.
Point Arena is approximately 15 minutes away, with restaurants, a theater, shops and access to the spectacular Mendocino coastline.

Gualala, Sea Ranch, beaches, coastal hikes and scenic drives are also easy to explore from here.

You can spend the day along the ocean and return to your own quiet place among the redwoods.

GUEST ACCESS
The cabin and the area immediately surrounding it are yours to enjoy privately.
Guests also have access to designated trails on our property, which we are happy to explain.

The wood-burning sauna and laundry area are near our main house and are reached through the garden.

We live elsewhere on the property. We respect our guests' privacy and generally leave you to enjoy the forest, but we are up the hill if you need anything or would like local recommendations.

GETTING HERE
Part of what makes the cabin so peaceful is its location.
The property is reached by approximately 1.5 miles of dirt road from the ridge down into the redwoods. Please read the detailed driving directions we send before arrival rather than relying exclusively on GPS.

Once you arrive, you'll understand why the drive is worth it.

This isn't a resort, and it isn't a cabin surrounded by other vacation rentals.
It is a comfortable, modern place for two people hidden inside a redwood forest.
Come here to sleep deeply. Cook dinner. Walk with your dog. Work on something you've been meaning to finish. Take an outdoor shower. Sit beside the creek. Explore the coast. Heat the sauna. Watch the stars.
Or come here with absolutely no plans at all. Most of our favorite guests do exactly that.
