Über diese cottage dieses Ferienunterkunft
This little gem is located south of Gregory Town, and is just above Surfer's Beach. The cottage is environmentally friendly as all of the energy is generated from the sun, and the water is captured from rain. The system provides enough energy to use air conditioning in the main area during the day, and in the bedroom while sleeping through the night. And, there is fast Starlink internet.
Swell Cottage is our favorite place in the world.
Beachfront
A rare beachfront property in the area - enjoy access to the sand and sea. In addition to the beaches below Swell Cottage, it is just a short walk to the part of Surfer's Beach where surfers surf.
Rural
Swell Cottage is a pristine, coastal sanctuary. Known for natural beauty, Eleuthera is a step back in time. Neither fast food, nor big developments. Yet, just 2 miles away is Gregory Town, with everything you need to supply your stay.
Ocean view
Follow a short path through the palms to an amazing lounge on the cliff overlooking the sea. Here you can watch the waves, listen to the surf, and gaze at the stars.
You can stay in this stunning home. We give you heartfelt hospitality, and support for you with responsive communication and onsite solutions.
Eleuthera (“Ya-lou-thra”) is a narrow island spanning 110 miles north to south. It’s known for its crystal-clear waters, breathtaking views, and secluded beaches. It’s safe, quiet, and peaceful. There is so much to see and do, it would be hard to pack all into one trip. You may find yourself planning your next trip while you are here!
Surfer's Beach extends from below the cottage, and then a mile to the south. It is possible to swim below the house, and further down the beach, but we only recommend this on calm days when waves are small. If the current or waves are stronger it's best to swim in the “baby pools” which are the shallow areas protected by the rock peninsula (which itself is great for snorkeling.)
Surfer's Beach is also great for sunning, walking, exploring, and beach combing. And, beautifully, you usually have it all to yourselves.
Below are the ways to get to the beach from Swell Cottage.
1. The cliff path behind the house takes you directly to the beach below the cottage in just a few minutes. Follow the sandy palm path toward the lounge chair overlook, after you emerge from the palms, and before you go to the lounge chairs, the path is on the right. This path, however, is for the relatively athletic or nimble. Some steps are big. The rocks can be rough and sharp, wear appropriate footwear, go slow and be careful. The path is not on our property, use at your own risk.
2. It is an easy walk to the main part of Surfer’s Beach, where surfers surf, south along the beach. You can also walk down the road (or drive most of the way) to the main entrance for Surfer's Beach. Here’s how: from the driveway take a left (south) on the dirt road. In approx. 500 meters turn left at the intersection. Then, in around 100 meters there is another intersection (park here.) Go left at this intersection on foot. Follow along, and you will see paths for beach.
3. There’s another path to the beach, but it may be hard to find. From the driveway take a left (south) on the dirt road, you will pass two driveways on your left. Roughly 100 meters past the second driveway you may or may not see a small trail entrance on your left. (Some recent tree and brush removal may obscure the trail entrance, moving the entrance 20 meters off the road.) If you can find it, it also leads you to the beach.
