History lovers will love exploring the atmospheric ruins of Glenluce Abbey (16 miles), while green-fingered guests can admire exotic plants at Logan Botanic Garden (28.5 miles) or wander through the grounds and famous maze at Dunskey Gardens (28 miles). Galloway Forest Park (20 miles) is a haven for stargazing, birdwatching and wildlife spotting, as well as mountain biking along the 7stanes trails.


On arrival, a half-step leads through the kitchen entrance, opening into a large, sociable space where you can sit down to leisurely meals and plan tomorrow’s adventures. The adjoining utility room contains a washing machine and tumble dryer. In the comfy sitting room, settle beside the wood burner and admire the sea view. One of the four bedrooms – a double – is located on the ground floor, along with a bathroom with a bath and separate shower.
