A former cowshed in a historic forester’s lodge dating back to 1741—now an extraordinary vacation rental for up to four guests. Our apartment is located on the first floor in the health resort town of Kappel at an elevation of 887 meters and has been lovingly and comfortably furnished. Exposed beams, natural stone, and the original barn wall blend with modern design, underfloor heating, and brand-new furnishings. Plus: two terraces, a small garden with a Finnish sauna, and the Upper Black Forest right on your doorstep.

The apartment is located on the first floor and accommodates up to four guests.

The centerpiece is the open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area with large windows and direct access to the terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped.

There are two separate bedrooms with double beds, as well as a modern bathroom with a walk-in rain shower.

The apartment includes two outdoor areas: In front of the historic entrance is a terrace with seating and radiant heaters (available starting in March 2027). On the other side, you can access the second terrace from the living area, which features a small garden and views of the valley and the mountains.

In the garden, you’ll have exclusive use of a small Finnish sauna for 1–2 people.

Wi-Fi, underfloor heating, a washer, and a dryer are also included. A high chair is available for families.

Guest access:

The entire vacation rental, as well as both terraces and the sauna, are exclusively at your disposal during your stay.

Check-in is easy via an electronic door lock, so you can arrive at your convenience.

A covered parking space is available for your car (a wallbox is in the works and should be available by March 2027). Bicycles and motorcycles can also be parked in the carport.

Interaction with guests:

You’ll enjoy your stay all to yourselves. Check-in is simple and flexible via our electronic door lock. We don’t live on-site, but we’re always easy to reach if you have any questions or need assistance. Otherwise, we make a point of staying in the background—the forest house is yours during your stay.

Additional relevant information:

The forest house dates back to 1741 and was expanded in 1881 with an Art Nouveau addition. During the renovation, we deliberately preserved many historical elements—small imperfections and traces of past centuries give the apartment a rustic and cozy feel.

The apartment is located at an elevation of approximately 887 meters. In winter, winter tires are required when weather conditions warrant.

The sauna is located outdoors and is available exclusively to our guests.

Two e-bikes can be rented for a fee, subject to availability.

Visitor’s tax: The visitor’s tax for the municipality of Lenzkirch is not included in the room rate and is charged separately. It currently amounts to €3.00 per person per night for guests aged 16 and older, and €1.60 for children aged 6–15. Children under 6 are exempt. Payment can be made conveniently before arrival or during your stay. Upon check-in, you will receive the KONUS guest card, which allows you to use public transportation free of charge in the participating area.
