Über diese haus dieses Ferienunterkunft
Contemporary architecture, lush private gardens, and a saltwater pool in the heart of Mexico's Lake Chapala region.
Hidden behind 12-foot walls in Riberas del Pilar, this remarkable three-bedroom, four-bath residence is a private sanctuary where art, architecture, and nature come together.
Designed and built by Spanish artist Pedro Escapa, the home combines modernist architecture, Japanese, Bauhaus, and Brutalist influences, with traditional Mexican craftsmanship. Expansive walls of glass, sculptural concrete, warm brick ceilings, and thoughtfully curated artwork create a home that is both visually striking and wonderfully inviting.
Living Surrounded by Nature:
Throughout the home, enormous steel-framed windows connect the interiors with the gardens.
The living room, kitchen, and primary suite each feature two walls of glass, filling the rooms with natural light and creating an almost seamless relationship between indoor and outdoor living.
Exposed brick, traditional bóveda ceilings, polished concrete, contemporary furnishings, and colorful Mexican textiles give the home a character all its own. The interiors also feature art and sculpture work from contemporary Mexican and American artists, and curated works from local artisans.
The generous living room is a wonderful place to gather, while the spacious kitchen features natural wood cabinetry, a striking solid-wood island, and an informal sitting area.
The bedroom/bathroom combination is unique offering privacy and seclusion. It’s a great setup for 2-3 couples and still lays out well for a family.
Two wood-burning fireplaces add warmth and atmosphere during cooler evenings.
Your Own Private Garden Oasis:
Step outside and discover the true heart of the property.
Mature tropical landscaping, towering cypress trees, palms, flowering plants, and manicured lawns surround a beautiful saltwater, solar-heated swimming pool.
There are numerous places to enjoy the gardens, whether relaxing beside the pool, reading in the shade, or enjoying the sunshine.
A covered outdoor dining terrace sits between the home's glass-walled living spaces, making it an ideal setting for long lunches, evening meals, and entertaining. Additional covered outdoor sitting areas provide space to spread out and enjoy Ajijic's celebrated climate.
The entire property is surrounded by approximately 12-foot-high walls, creating an exceptional sense of seclusion and privacy.
A One-of-a-Kind Casita:
The property's separate casita is an architectural experience in its own right.
Constructed in board-formed concrete with bold steel detailing and oversized windows, its Brutalist design offers a striking contrast to the main residence.
The approximately 600-square-foot (56 m²) studio combines sleeping and living areas, making it particularly appealing for guests who appreciate a little additional independence and privacy.
Together, the main home and casita provide three bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Designed for Comfortable Stays:
The home offers high-speed internet, ceiling fans, secure off-street parking behind the perimeter walls, and multiple indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxing or gathering.
Dogs are welcome, and the expansive, fully enclosed gardens make this an especially appealing destination for guests traveling with their four-legged companions.
