The Lanai
The lanai does most of the work here. Pull a chair to the rail and the show starts on its own: surfers paddling out at the Cove, a turtle surfacing between sets, sailboats tacking across the channel toward Lanai. The building is small and low-rise, tucked on quiet Iliili Street with little of the road noise found closer to South Kihei's main strip, so evenings settle fast once the sun drops toward West Maui.

Charley Young Beach lies one direction down Iliili Street, all sand and easy entry for swimming. Cove Park sits the other way, home to the surf break the building shares its view with. Both are an easy walk, along with Kalama Village's shops and restaurants and the Foodland grocery store for stocking the kitchen. The stretch is walkable enough that a rental car becomes optional. An Uber or taxi covers anything farther out, and plenty of visitors skip the car altogether and stay local for the whole trip. Kahului Airport (OGG) serves those who bring a car anyway.
