Lace up your walking boots and begin the 2-mile trek to nearby Dhoon Beach (4 miles), a sandy bay on the edge of the River Dee. This dog-friendly spot is sheltered, great for picnics and features unique rock pools with fascinating formations. A short distance away, the town of Castle Douglas (10 miles) is a must-visit for foodies, well known for its quality eateries and shops filled with local produce.
