Nothing. Absolutely nothing. So little in fact we moved to another location after only staying one night. It was too dirty and too loud and I'm a regular hostel goer.

It's dirty, loud and the cost per night is absolutely ridiculous when you actually see the lodging. You may think like I did - " hey it can't be THAT bad and DC is so expensive...I can deal for three nights" let me save you the misery...DONT. Spend an extra $20 somewhere else. It feels so unbelievably unsanitary and poorly cared for that I didn't feel safe. We had to pay a deposit to lock our room...what on earth?!

The location was in a sweet spot. The availability of transport distances to different places, and transportation to the airport, restaurants, and almost everything was super close. They even have a kitchen that is accessible to all and if you are planning to stay and cook for yourself, it will be convenient for you.

The room was in a much below-average condition. The bed was sticky, the bathroom was averagely cleaned and even though they have a kitchen available for every guest, I did not dare go in there due to mouses and specks of dirt.

The staff and the other hosts were really nice.

The options for breakfast are quite limited and there is not much place at the kitchen for eating. In general, all the instalations should be renewed, mainly the bedrooms cause there is not much space. It would also be good if they had lockers to leave your personal belongings.

the place is bery close to lots of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. there’s a bus stop 5 min walking away from it.

the room wasn’t very clean. they aslo said the breakfast was included, but when it’s not a real breakfast service. there’s a small table with coffee powder, a bag with bread and some raw eggs. so we had to cook our own food, and there wasn’t a lot of things available.

The owner is an awesome guy. We didn't have a parking space and he stayed late to help us out. Really nice, funny dude who cares about his Center and the people who stay there.

Yes, I'm talking to you. Probably like me, you think to yourself: "it can't be that bad, people are oversensitive, and it's cheap here". Well, believe me, I've slept in different places in my life and this place is an absolute disaster. Especially if you think that it is a hotel offer on Booking, on which you spend little more than on a average hotel. And what is important - Booking no longer returns the funds you spend here, even if you have to sleep outside; consider it! A breakfast of eggs and toast with jams is included in the price, but the kitchen is in terrible condition. All the pots look like they were taken out of the trash, cooking on them is literally eating PFAS, the gas stove sometimes just doesn't work, and the refrigerators are filled to the brim with food of unknown origin and expiry date. The furniture in many places looks as if it stood for months before it was collected from the garbage and is probably only suitable for disposal. The bathrooms are terrible, it's hard to tell if it's rust, fungus or an art installation. There is a deposit for keys in cash (not mentioned by Booking), which can only be recovered at specific times (if you have to catch the plane, well, we didn't get it back). And what is important - judging by the permanent residents - it is definitely not a youth center, as the name would suggest.

The room we got was not cleaned very much (rubbish from previous guests), but the bedding was rather clean, after some time we also got towels, so we thought: "it's not good, but acceptable, since it's a cheap offer". BUT... Outside window there’s a huge cooling machine that not only covers the entire window, but also hums. Initially, we thought that OK, we can ignore this noise, and we didn't come here for the view from the window. In the evening, when the club below (which owns this device) starts partying, the device turns on some extra fan which is broken. The noise it generates resembles in intensity a drilling sound behind a wall. It is mega-loud and it's hard to fall asleep even with earplugs. We called guy from staf, he said that he would report the problem to the owner. The owner didn't come, I went over and asked what he thought about the noise. Believe it or not, owner suggested that people from Europe do not know how loud the city can be (!) and that is why we are exaggerating. Then the owner declared that it was not his machine and he couldn't do anything about it. I don't know, maybe it would be possible not to sell such a room? But it was clear to us that the owner would not be helpful. Between two and three in the morning, the club finished party and turned off the machine; then it was possible to fall asleep. I understand many things. For example, I can mention a lot of courtesy of both the reception staff and most of the guests. That the staff tries to keep it clean. And the fact that the place is actually in the center of a fashionable youth district where there is always a party (it's both a disadvantage and an advantage). But - let's be honest - the price is not so low as to ignore the condition of the place. This place doesn't need a renovation – it needs a few renovations!

I’ve mistakenly double booked my reservation and the property owner, Steve, immediately solved the issue by contacting Booking and refunding me. It was a very professional gesture of his and it’s been a great pleasure meeting him. Steve has great interpersonal and skills and has created a safe, friendly and great place to be during my stay in lovely Washington DC.

Cleaning, also bunk beds did not have railings, felt unsafe.

It was good value for money

The facilities could have been a bit cleaner and there could be a bit more room for luggage in the rooms, especially when they're full.

i arrived at the hour that said that I can do the check in (12pm) and they told me that the check in hour is at 3pm. i has to leave for 3 hours. Then they don’t let you know that you have to leave 10 dollars of deposit, if you don’t give the 10 dollars they don’t give you a key. I didn’t have cash or any money in my account so I had to ask a friend to transfer me and go to a bank. Then it says that you have a locker and is not true, you have to pay for it 10 dollars. I wish I could have a refound at least for that cause is really unfare.

Breakfast is toast and jam but you can make your own breakfast, and they put oj, and water ,and tea, their are stair their no elevator. Their are three floor . Great recreation room 3 bathroom on site. And you can cook your own meals by scratch. Thank you Washington international student hostel . When I was down and out and on a budget you where their. They need a deep clean vacumà 1

The location and the price are very good. Breakfast is provided (bread, peanut butter, jelly, eggs, coffee, juice and milk). You can cook the eggs the way you want. There are four bathrooms, so I never had problems to find a free one.

During check-in it is required to pay 10$ in cash, you'll get it back during check-out. But for me it was nowhere clearly communicated during the booking procedure, so I had to go to an ATM (next door in a restaurant) which was not far, but a complication which could have been avoided. For the bathrooms I suggest to put some extra hooks on the wall or maybe put in a little desk, that things can be placed somewhere while one is in the bathrooms.

Easy to find. Friendly staff. Good sleep. Everything was convenient. Thank you.

More chairs in the kitchen

The people that i met, also the once living in the Hostel and also the once working there where super nice and you will definitely not feel like a gust but like a Student flat share (that’s probably why its called that way), in a nice way. With some of my roommates and people around there I have even bounded for a long run. Most of them are just staying short time but some are there now half decades and Its so great that there is a real kitchen. You can skip the extra dollars for the Breakfast (cause there is just not much) but cook for your own (after you cleaned the dishes)!

You have to accept that there are not only searching for shelter in this Hostel but also those kind of animals that you would normally don’t want to have as Pet’s. That would be okay if you would pay the 7 $ per night that you used to pay 3 years ago but for over 30$ its a shame and thats surely not inflation, that prices went nearly 5 times as high then 3 years ago. Just because people are ready to pay it? Really? Then you should also provide them a stay worth the 30$. I have just never been to a Hostel or student flat that was that dirty. But if that settings sounds great to you, go for it, It will surely be an experience you won’t forget!
