Alexander's Lodge

Homey; it kinda felt like staying at someone’s home. Also historical. The location is amazing, & it was close to a good restaurant. When we had an issue (which really wasn’t… we figured it out), staff was responsive & nice.

We rolled to the middle of the bed a little. That’s about all I can come up with.

It looks way better than on photos. Yeah, place is old. But everything was very clean and functional! The location is nice and quiet, very close to the park. What I like the most: the shower with very hot water and strong water pressure!

The proximity to the park was great! There is a restaurant within walking distance. The fish pond was a ni e place to relax after a day of hiking.

The only way to get ice is to go when the office is open. If you’re hiking all day from very early to dinner you miss your window. The pillows were large and firm. I ended up folding a blanket and using it for a pillow

We stayed at Alexander Lodge for 4 nights and left with mixed feelings. The location is pleasant, but the property's marketing oversells its "remote" setting — there's actually a community of homes nearby, and it's a fairly short drive to Tacoma. If seclusion is what you're after, temper your expectations. The bigger issues were with upkeep and service. The carpets throughout our room were visibly dirty and clearly hadn't been replaced or deep-cleaned in a long time. The air conditioning unit was cranky and unreliable, cycling inconsistently throughout our stay. For a property charging upwards of $300/night — rates comparable to five-star hotels — we expected a level of maintenance and polish that just wasn't there. Housekeeping was also disappointing. Over 4 nights, the only service we received was towel replacement and trash removal — no bed making, no actual room cleaning. At this price point, that's a significant shortfall. The lodge has real potential, but it needs the owners to reinvest in basic renovations (new carpets, updated HVAC) and hold housekeeping to a higher standard. Right now, the experience doesn't match the price tag.
