The Lodge is in a remote location which made it feel special. I was able to eat both dinner and breakfast. Staff was pleasant.

Absolutely nothing!
I could not find the hotel to begin with as it is truly in the middle of nowhere, and I turned back around to the only facility I passed within miles on Hwy 50. I had been trying to call the motel for 20 minutes to get directions and couldn't get through to them. The store clerk confirmed I was in a cell phone dead zone. So, no contact with the motel was possible. He told me to go 11 miles until I hit the construction. There was a long line of vehicles waiting for the pilot car to take us through the one-lane construction. Once I was in the canyon, I realized I must have missed my turn, but I was in a long line of over 20 vehicles driving through the construction in a narrow canyon and it was impossible to turn around, not even an option. There was NO SIGN to let me know where I was supposed to turn to get to the lodge AND there was NO cell service!! My two choices were to turn around and wait in line for the next pilot car to go back through the construction and try once again to find the turnoff or to continue driving to the next town of Gunnison an hour away, where, fortunately, I was able to get a nice room. When I finally did get cell service, I immediately called the hotel, told them what happened, and was told I should have turned around and I would not be getting a refund. She also confirmed that their sign at the turn-off had been knocked down. I was traveling alone, I was tired and hungry, and this was the worst travel experience I have ever had. I also missed the whole purpose of this trip which was to see the Night Sky in Black Canyon. I paid for two rooms that night for circumstances that were beyond my control. The right thing to do would have been for Arrowhead to refund my money, but I learned a lesson, I will never again reserve with the non-refundable rate.

Beautiful, off the beaten path location.
Stairs are sometimes a bit more difficult for older travelers.

We had no idea what to expect. I almost canceled this booking due to the construction on the canyon road below. I am so glad I did not. This is a wonderful place to stay. IT has more of a bead and breakfast feel. It might have been one of the highlights of our 17 day western trip. The rooms are older but decorated so cute. Every single staff person we encountered felt like they went above an beyond with any questions we had. The food in the restaurant was really good. The atmosphere is relaxing. We spent the evening playing board games under the aspen trees and string lights. The canyon construction was a blessing, in the fact we decided to wait until the noon window to get out. It allowed us time to explore the mountain. We were using this as a stopping point on our way back to Colorado Springs, but now we want to go back just to stay for a few nights to enjoy the lodge. I highly recommend.

The remoteness. Peaceful and quiet.
It was 1hr away from South Rim of Black Canyon and a little bit more from North Rim.
There was no ceiling fan and wifi was down all the time we were there.

Great locally owned lodge. Fun comfortable rooms and a good restaurant. I really liked the place, the people there were really helpful and friendly. Black Canyon of the Gunnison is nearby, so are plenty of other neat places to see/do. If you want to spend some time on a high mountain plateau in western Colorado, then this is a great option.
Beds are a bit soft for people who like harder beds.

Attractive room, very comfortable mattress. VERY friendly staff, everyone! The location is a great adventure but the road is a great road and easy to navigate with a regular car.
No real criticism here, maybe a some better baked goods for breakfast.

Location was excellent and staff were very friendly. The store had more inventory than I expected. The Inn/Lodge has always looked very rustic and cool. Good tap beer selections.
Would have preferred more for breakfast, but with Covid restrictions, I understand.

Staff and way off the path.
Wish we had more time to stay!

We arrived late due to a closed road and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. They checked us in and got us dinner quickly.
Booking.com would not allow the hotel to communicate a road closure to us. We had to wait over an hour on the side of the road and then USDOT made an exception to let us get to the lodge. We were lucky they let us go. Not happy with booking.com and won’t use again.

The property is a quiet, quaint little gem! Staff is delightful and owners were wonderful to chat with. Don’t let the drive to “nowhere” influence your decision. It was well worth it. We want to back and spend more time and do some exploring nearby.
