The Inn at 2nd & C

A very unique building, beautiful inside. A grand ball room they have events in. It is attached to a great Irish Pub and also a lounge. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I felt like I didn’t find the place, it found me.

It’s sad to see everywhere but the homeless population is high. In a positive light, no one approached me, no panhandling, they stayed to themselves. Sad.

This was a quirky property, I’ve never stayed at this kind of hotel. That said, it was a nice hotel, the bed was comfy and the ability to walk thru the building into Gallagher Irish pub was perfect. And their food was awesome!!!

The area seemed to be attempting a revitalization in the town. However there were a lot of homeless people around. I would never have wandered outside the property.

The property itself is absolutely beautiful, and the location is great. When we first walked in, we were genuinely impressed. The Victorian architecture, antique furniture, carved details, common rooms, and overall atmosphere are stunning. It feels elegant, unique, and full of character. There are also some activities available for guests, which was a nice touch.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness really took away from the experience. I completely understand that this is an old Victorian property — I’ve stayed in historic Victorian homes before — but being old and being clean are two different things. There was a noticeable layer of dust on chairs, furniture, and baseboards, and we even found crumbs on the bed despite not having eaten or sat there beforehand. The room also doesn’t have a refrigerator or microwave. Wine is available for purchase, but there isn’t even a refrigerator in the room to chill it. There is no air conditioning either, although there was a heater and we were able to get the room reasonably comfortable. The biggest issue, however, was the bathroom. There was a very strong, unpleasant smell of old urine. It was bad enough that using the bathroom was genuinely uncomfortable and it significantly affected our entire stay. Again, I understand that this is a historic building, but I’ve stayed in other old properties and have never experienced anything like this. This felt like a cleanliness or maintenance issue rather than simply the age of the house. Breakfast was also quite underwhelming. The selection was very limited, with very few options available. Overall, this is a gorgeous and very memorable property with a lot of character, but the cleanliness — especially the bathroom odor — seriously detracted from what otherwise could have been a wonderful stay.
