Staff were amazing! The location was great and plenty of parking! The food was great! Couldn’t fault it!

There were rips in the carpet in our room. There was some sort of insects/worm in the tap for the bath that came out when I ran the water for a bath on my last night. This then put me off even using the bath. The smaller magnifying mirror in the bathroom was hanging off the wall. There was a broken tile also in the bathroom. The noise of children running up and down the hall late in the evening rapping doors and shouting. The ladies changing room at the pool was also very run down. Lockers broken etc.

Staff really friendly, pool a good size for proper swimming.

Very tired & dated, definitely not 4 star. Bed extremely uncomfortable & small. Bath & shower curtain grubby. Poor selection for breakfast. Room key reader out of battery, had to be let in with backup key. I come to Monaghan often & usually stay elsewhere, tried Hillgrove for a change & very disappointed.

Swimming pool was closed for a week for maintenance.

Have stayed many times and never disappointed..value for money and the friendly helpful staff make our journey to monaghan well worth it.

The food in the pk restaurant was very disappointing, for our main course we ordered a margarita pizza and the chicken tenders , the sauce on the base of the pizza was disgusting it definitely was the wrong type of sauce used , the batter on the chicken tenders was really overpowering with spice which made them uneatable , I did explain how bad the food was to our server and she agreed with me that the tenders were really bad and I definitely wasn’t the first person to complain about them that evening but yet she never gave me any opportunity to change it for another main course and I was still charged in full for a meal that they knew that wasn’t up to scratch

Cocktails were lovely and staff were all really helpful and friendly The food in the bar was top class Very enjoyable Relaxed atmosphere the in bar Barry the hotel manager was very welcoming & gave great food menu recommendations

The outdoor hot tub was out of use & that was a disappointment. It would have been good to have been informed of this in advance as this was one of the main attractions and reasons why I booked the hotel. I was really looking forward to using outdoor hot rub and receptionist at pool told us it was out of order for two more weeks. If I had of known that in advance of my stay I would have postponed my stay until another time
