As described, this house has a very old feel and if you take time to read the information you get a real feel for the house and its history.We had everything we needed for a lovely comfortable stay with family joining us, the location had some lovely walks in a very charming village, a perfect get away. Communication with Lynn was quick and slightly earlier check in was appreciated with the hot weather for my parents. We had Olly our dog with secure garden he enjoyed exploring safely.

Lyn’s directions were clear and concise. The property is indeed very suitable for a family gathering (we hosted 10 for lunch). Lovely garden area! Several top notch pubs in the area. The house is well-equipped, but we found the towels a bit dated (easy fix for the owner). For older guests, the stairs are a narrow and a bit steep, need to use caution. We were unable to find extra toilet rolls; fortunately we had just enough!

I want to leave an honest balanced review. The house is in a lovely area for walks and to drive to some nice villages / attractions.The owner let us check in an hour earlier so we could drop off some groceries which was much appreciated. The cleaners were not there so it was ready for us anyway. The house itself is quite dated and still has a lot of things/ ornaments there belonging to its owners (current owner’s late parents) which we are asked to not touch. The furniture is a bit wobbly. Some things need fixing like loose door/ cupboard handles. Kitchen is well stocked but we had to wash everything before using. The shower was blocked and as the owner lives a long way away and it was a BH weekend so plumber not available, my husband had to spend time cleaning it after fashioning a plunger with whatever was available! The owner had told us there was another shower over the bath which we could just use - true but we specifically booked a house with 2 showers as there were 6 of us. The cleaner did come over the next day with some drain cleaner to use and some towels (as not enough there for us all when we arrived). We left behind a charger which the owner very generously said she’d have posted to us but unfortunately it never arrived. We did have a lovely weekend but not because of the house.

The cottage is easy to find and well positioned but could do with a little maintenance and a couple of upgrades. The shower isn't great and doesn't drain well. My stepfather in law pulled the plug out to find it matted with black hair. Likewise the dining and kitchen furniture is very rickety and wobbly and could probably do with replacing with something more comfortable. It is also described a 2 x Twin / Single rooms but they are definitely single rooms in each, there is no second bed.
