Our family of 4 had an excellent stay here. It was conveniently located to food, shopping, beaches, etc. We enjoyed the well maintained property and the 2 pools. The rental is well stocked with pretty much everything we needed. We appreciated the having the cooler, chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards for our beach days. Would 100% stay here again when we stay in Kona and we will be be back! We loved the island!

It meets our needs for breakfast in the morning and prepping dinner at night (we grill nightly and eat down by the pool). It is well equipped and had more beach items than two years ago (cooler, umbrella, chairs, extra snorkel gears, 5 beach towels, etc.). The kitchen, while full of MANY random items and beyond dull knives, is well stocked and has everything one needs. The pantry had basic spices, oils and S & P which is VERY helpful. The unit is clean and modern and the bathroom is great for a family of 4. The kids slept comfortably on the pull-out sofa. The master bedroom is cozy and comfy. Truly, we spend so little time in the until, we choose Casa De Emdeko for the outdoor space (pools, grilling area, gardens, etc.) and it's location. Unit has hook up for washer/dryer, but doesn't have one in unit, the public laundry is close by and easy to use, so that wasn't an issue. I'm sure we will stay again when we come back to HI.

Casa de Emdeko more than met our expectations. Condo was clean, well stocked and comfortable. Our adult daughter join us on our vacation and found the pullout sofa quite comfortable. We were able to get a breeze through the condo and along with the large ceiling fans sleeping was never an issue. Casa de Emdeko is centrally located so access to some of the best snorkeling is within a 30 min drive to the south and beaches for body surfing and general swimming is 30 mins to the north. Celebrating the sunset from the gathering area and saltwater pool was a great way to end the day. We were well informed on the check in ands out process and all our questions and requests handled promptly.

This property is very nice, just be warned you are required to clean the entire apartment and do your towel laundry. Luckily we only slept there and did not have a ton of laundry to do. Also you can only control the temperature of the condo about 3 degrees. We were uncomfortable the nights we stayed and is till to warm to open up the patio door to cool off. Lots of positives like the pool, the views, and the location. We did enjoy our stay just a little stress full with all the cleaning and tempurature. But we were in Hawaii. I give it a 4/5 stars

There are some issues that is not under management control, but I want to mention them. 1. The salt water pool was closed for maintenance during our stay (was not a big deal for us, but I know that some kids prefer pools to the ocean. There is another pool with the regular water, which was operational) . 2. The bedroom window faces elevator entrance (elevator is outside of the building. Not many people use it, but once in a while could be irritating). 3. There is some mechanical sound from the courtyard (like 50% of time), so when you sit on the balcony, it could bother you. The condos in the same complex that are closer to ocean do not have this issue. and you can use cabana instead of your balcony.
Considering price to quality ratio, I would still rent this condo and enjoy my vacation.

The property has an outstanding common area with BBQ area, gazebo, two pools (one with oceanview but it was closed for majority of our week for maintenance) and a beach sand area with beach loungers. I would have given 5 stars overall but the unit was missing a dining table. There is a breakfast counter with bar stools which was not very comfortable to have dinner on. All in all a great placefor vacay. We would stay again.

Casa de Emdeko is a very nice property with a beautiful garden and 2 pools, and it is right on the surf. Even staying in one of the front condos, you can hear the ocean waves. It is out of the busiest part of town, but not too far out, so walking into the shops and restaurants of Kona is about a 2-mile stroll for those inclined to excercise. Parking is always a problem in Kona, but who cares? With sun and surf, restaurants and shops, some inconveniences are only slight annoyances. The condo itsef lacks just a few things to be a five start review. Seniors will be happy to have the elevator! What a plus that is. But the condo needs to supply a grocery cart to bring food up to the room. Seniors who live there have their carts or wagons for hauling goods into or up to their rooms. Several little omissions I thought would be very comforting and welcoming; complimentary kleenex, complimentary coffee for the Mr Coffee coffee maker. But the addition of a small washer/dryer combination would be an excellent accommodation. Especially for seniors who don't have a good way to carry laundry back and forth. The kitchen is completely stocked with everything needed. The lanai is nicely furnished. The air conditioning is excellent. A very nice place to stay.

Overall property was great. Issue with AC first day, then no water 2nd day due to maintenance. I would love to give 5 stars but unit says it has AC but thermostat does not go lower than 75 degrees which is warm for my wife. But would stay again if the could adjust thermostat.

You can walk one mile into town. I encourage people to do that because even though Kona was kind of dead in September 2021, there is nowhere to park. Casa de Emdeko also has limited parking. There were not a lot of guests and parking filled up each night by 8:00 pm in the gated/secure section. You can park in the front lot near the on-site convenience store. I don't know how they handle the high season.

As for covid restrictions, people weren't too aggro or pushy about wearing masks indoors. I chose to eat outdoors or made reservations since some places now have limited seating. But, I find it very unhelpful that Hawaii's governor told tourists to stay home even though they are required to be vaxxed or covid-tested at very selective labs before traveling. That's a lot to ask of visitors, especially when Hawaii hit its "goal" of 70% vaxxed. Of course, Governor David Ige changed that "goal" once Hawaii hit that. It didn't fit his narrative anymore. He's constantly moving the bar. I think that he's doing everything to be politically convenient. Certain groups aren't getting the vax, yet Ige is blaming his opponents. Meanwhile, Hawaiians want tourism and the Big Island is shell shocked that Kona Ironman World Championships were cancelled again in 2021.

That gets me to the cleanliness of the condo. No cleaning service during stays. I think that I ran out of trash bags, too. It would be nice to get daily cleaning. That's my only ding against the condo. Also, it needs a better parking sys
