Is a perfect place for a family vacation with young kids. There is boat ride on the river, fishing, lots of birds and animals, insects, sounds of nature. The staff went above and beyond to welcome us and to entertain the kids. The tents are very comfortable, has huge beds and the indoor bathroom is super convenient. Food was delicious and abundant (altough we missed some protein on the first night, all other meals were complete and yummy)
The camping site itself is quite basic, we missed having a more comfortable common area to enjoy the warm night together and a shared frige to keep a few cold beers in hand. But other then this feedback, we loved the camp!

This was one of the best hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka and the cheapest. The tents are so clean and such fun to feel like you are camping out. The river location was stunning and with the fire files in the evening it feels like you are on a movie set. The staff are so good and constantly brought us tea and coffee and biscuits. The food is great (not spicy) and far too plentiful! They made us a nice packed lunch for our safari. They organised all the trips for us, we were so pleased. We saw the milky way at night above the camp.

Overall the most authentic and incredible experience we had in Srilanka. From the comfortable tents, location to nature, absolutely lovely staff who went out of their way to make our stay amazing, and hands down the best meal we had. Was a full inclusive experience and for the price is an absolute must do !

Very scenic and peaceful setting by the river and surrounded by cane fields. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and arranged a safari for us and also a trip to the elephant orphanage. The tents were large and had ensuite sections. The food served at breakfast and dinner was plentiful and good.
Power was by generator and was only turned on for part of the day. The information given on booking dot com and also in emails to me by Makalulu Camp said that there was a restaurant and drinks were available to purchase but this was not the case. Food was prepared on-site at dinner and breakfast time and there was no choice.
