A taste of real Ireland in Mayo. Peaceful location, characterful accommodation with really comfortable beds, rooms and living room. We both slept so well. It was fully stocked with everything, plus more, you could think of including games, cable tv, extensive kitchen equipment, high quality bedding and a delightful bath. The hosts were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and informative. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning very soon. Thank you Mayo. Thank you to our two & four legged friends.

Séan and Suzi have done a fantastic job at converting a piece of history into a present-day retreat home. They communicated with us before during and after our stay and made sure we had everything we needed. Excellent location and amenities and a genuine Irish holiday location! Thank you, Suzi and Séan!!!

Great peacefully location, within 7km of mainstream supermarkets.
Beautiful scenery and amazing hosts (Sean & Susie) were very helpful and considerate of our needs, as my partner is disabled, we also had two dogs with us.
Overall amazing place, and we would highly recommend it to others, "with or without pets" ,wishing to stay. 😁 Five stars all round. Thank you

The property is in an idyllic location, if you want piece and quiet. The house is very comfortable throughout. Sean met us at property and gave us a quick run down of the house. The information folder provided included "everything" you need to know about property and surrounding amenities. The enclosed front garden was perfect for our dog. Any enquries we had ( which were very few) were answered immediately. Sean and suzi were perfect hosts and we fully intend to rebook

We had a great week at the house. It is so peaceful and the lovely scenery, Sean was an excellent host who gave some good advice on places to go. My children loved feeding the ponies next to the house this really gave the week the x factor plus the 4 adorable cats. This is the best place we hae stayed.

It is a wonderful restored cottage with a complete and high-quality endowment. Many tasteful details make you feel comfortable.
Sean was a very nice, uncomplicated and helpful host.
If you like a quiet surrounding in the midst of the landscape, this will be the perfect place. We also liked the animals (four cats and two ponys) which live on the property.

Quiet Country location. Great location for walks in the country. Saw red foxes multiple times on our walks. Enjoyed the cats who stay in cat house behind the property. Hosts responded quickly to any inquiries and usually visit the property to check in on cats and water plants in greenhouse.

Sean was a delight. He even had us feed the elpacas, donkey and Shetland ponies. The house was warm and inviting and we loved the cats visiting. Central location in the country close to Knock and Westport. We will definitely rent at Sean's cottage again! Slainte!

Tigh Mhic is a beautifully kept, spotless and well presented holiday cottage in a quiet and peaceful location which left us feeling refreshed and restored at the end of our 3 night stay. The attention to detail in the cottage is second to none and wanted for nothing. The cottage is “old world” but at the same time has excellent amenities and all mod cons were provided. The thoughtful extra touches (e.g. dishwasher tablets and plenty of condiments) made us feel very welcome Sleeping and living accommodation were extremely comfortable and the fully enclosed grassy garden area was perfect for our two dogs to romp around in without being able to stray too far. Sean and Suzi were very helpful with advice on local facilities such as shopping and attractions. There was plenty of sightseeing available in the area without having to travel too far - we recommend Ballintubber Abbey, Moore Hall (in particular), Michael Davitt Museum, Knock Shrine and Foxford Woollen Mills. The Museum of Country Life is also a must see for anyone with an interest in Irish folk history.. We are delighted to thoroughly recommend Tigh Mhic for a relaxing getaway and would hope to make a return visit soon!

We stayed at Suzi and Sean’s charming cottage in June 2023. Plenty of room for 4 adults with a fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds and pillows, and large living room. Two bathrooms and a washing machine make this an ideal spot for groups to use as a home base. Great little courtyard with seating in the back. This property would also be fantastic for those traveling with children-plenty of wonderful toys, games, and a large bathtub with hand held. We were lucky enough to accompany Sean one morning to feed the miniature horses, alpacas, and donkey next door! Property cat Bowie will greet you! Suzi and Sean were a wealth of information and very generous and supporting of us-would definitely recommend!

Cottage is exactly what is represented; even better! Sean and Suzy were great hosts. Cottage may have been too large for our needs, but we really liked having all of the space. Beds were very comfortable and it was very clean with all amenities that would be expected. Would recommend highly; we plan to return again, as we are buying a property in the area. Only very minor critique -- too much "stuff" everywhere -- game, toys, bric a brac; I prefer more empty space where we could put our things, but I understand geared toward families and children. We loved the animals; one of the cats spent several nights with us in the cottage :)

This VRBO is set up Very well for young children.
Kitchen is Very well-equipped and worked Very well.
Beds were “excellent”. 2 bathrooms was also great.
Hosts were “Very” helpful.
Wardrobes, rather than toys would have been more useful in bedrooms 2 and 3.
Shower hook-up in main bathroom would also have been “very” helpful. Very difficult to shower in this washroom.

We had some trouble finding the property but that was a GPS issue. Sean answered our call for help and met us on the road and led us to the cottage. He was great. The location is a perfect getaway or retreat. The property is clean and well-appointed. I recommend this place!

Sean and Suzi are perfect hosts and the house was great for my wife and I and our 2 young children aged 2 and 4. They even surprised us with a ball pit, that the kids loved, along with all the toys and the cats and ponies in the next field. The house was a 15 minute drive to our family that we were visiting, so that worked out great for us too. Would definitely recommend this property and would love to stay there again!

We stayed at Tigh Mhic for 2 nights on the run up to our son’s Wedding in Westport. Tigh Mhic is located in beautiful countryside with lovely views. Very comfortable & welcoming , clean & well equipped. We would have no hesitation in recommending Tigh Mhic as a wonderful place to stay. Thank you Sean for the warm welcome.

Beautiful spot, photos online do not do it justice. Views from the cottage are beautiful. We brought my 87 year old mom, who is not fully mobile and with dementia and even she loved her little get away.

We all loved our stay the Shetland ponies made it for our grandchildren. Great living space and bedrooms with all quality fittings I all areas The property has now had it exterior painted blue confusing when you first arrive at the property. The owners could not be more helpful. The property is very well maintained and rural the internet can be poor to non existent at times this is no fault of the owners as the cottage is but fantastic in every other way

Highly recommended, beautiful private, spacious and clean cottage, comfortable home from home, all amenities and needs catered, even plenty of books, dvds, and toys for children, nothing amiss, and lovingly decorated to a bespoke standard. Nice Garden area for children with outside play items also supplied (small slide, seesaw, goal and balls), and 2 lovely ponies and cats on site. Very close to neighbouring towns, all within 5-10 mins drive either direction and Knock Shrine 10 mins drive away. Sean and Suzi (Owners) were lovely and very accommodating, and will definitely return to stay, only next time for longer :)

We had an amazing week in Suzi and Seán's beautiful cottage! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly and helpful hosts! The house has absolutely everything you need and more and is far enough out of the local towns to enjoy the peace and quiet of the stunning countryside yet still close to all local amenities with plenty of things to see and do! We got to explore plenty of Mayo (Achill Island is a must see!), parts of Galway and even Roscommon aswell as some much needed downtime within the stunning grounds of the cottage! The children adored feeding Pan Cóg and Timmy (their two miniature ponies who live in the field beside their cottage) and trying to entice the four cats out to play ☺️! The only downside to our trip was that it had to come to an end! Will definitely make a return trip!!

First Trip to Ireland
Property was exactly as described and Sean was both very helpful and accommodating in terms of the dates we wanted and our extremely late arrival - much appreciated.

Quiet getaway in the heart of Mayo.
On arrival we were welcomed by the owner who explained everything to us. The cottage has absolutely everything you would ever need. Tea and coffee is in abundance and Sean even contacted us before arrival to see what milk we preferred. The cottage is warm and cosy with underfloor heating and the beds are very comfortable indeed. It is quite remote and that suited us. So ensure you don't mind this as you are not within walking distance to any villages. Would I recommend this cottage yes certainly 100% I have no issues with it or the owner. In fact Sean the owner was more than helpful and easy to contact.

A home away from home.
From the minute I stepped in the cottage there was an amazing calmness and relaxed feeling came over me. The kids felt home instantly, all 4 of them found something for their liking. They kept asking when will be back again. The cottage is really well equipped for all ages and weather conditions. We all wished we could have stayed a lot longer.

A wonderful cottage away from it all
Wonderful place especially with children as there are lots of toys and games. The bonus is the animals! 2 lovely ponies and several cats that have their own house! Enjoyed walks from the house. Away from it all but close to essentials. Great floor heating and beds. Only request would be for a hair dryer! Loved the tub!

Beautiful cottage
From start to finish we had a great experience in this beautiful cottage! The owners met us there and were very friendly & helpful, there were two rescue ponies in the field next to the house and we were left with two bags of carrots if the children wanted to feed them. The cottage itself was VERY clean and tidy, dishwasher, cooker, washer etc handy to have. There were plenty of games, toys, dvds etc to entertain all of us no matter the age had the weather been poor. The view out of the front windows were gorgeous too. We will definitely return soon! Thank you for our lovely experience!
